M Front Bumper

the MStyle website has the M front bumper for £455 plus £180 for paint and fitting.

This is one of the mods I'd love to get done (one day). I was wondering if you guys think £635 is a good price?

How often have you used the front fogs? On my previous Z I had never used them and they are only at risk of cracking due to stones hitting them ..

I live in a rural place and use them all the time on country roads, but i guess i'm in the minority

Never used my fog lights in 8 months. Always wondered how easy it would be to utilise them as "driving lamps" (like old Pug 205 GTIs etc) and have them come on automatically when I'm on full beam?

(yes, I could do this manually each time I flick onto full beam, but switching them back off everytime I go onto dipped would be a PITA, and I'm lazy!)

£635 doesn't sound too bad to me but it's not something I know much about. I'd have guessed a standard bumper isn't much less than this?

Why not just buy a used //M bumper of e-bay. They usually well for £150 ish, then just pay a bodyshop to spray and fit. I'm guessing around £250.

So all in, its £400. Sounds a bit more reasonable.

I don't know about the standard, but the aero one is £459 (painted and fitted), so less than £200.

Haven't found one yet.

everything on that mstyle website looks overpriced to me, at least dick turpin wore a mask !

I seem to remember a Z4M front bumper on ebay not so long ago for about £150 ?

I never got any satisfactory response from mstyle when I was looking to change my wheels... their loss...

So if the M bumper doesn't have front fog lights, how do you get away with passing MOT?

Fog lights are optional on the front of a UK car. The mandatory one is a single (or pair) of red on the rear.

Ah, ok. That could be interesting when i decide to get an M bumper as I'll be tying into the front fog lights.

Hi,

I found just the front bumper for £245 delivered.

Do you guys think this is a good price? What other parts would i need and how much would they cost me?

If the other parts cost anymore than £90 in total then it seems better to pay another £100 and getting a new one from MStyle?

What do you guys think?

You'll still need the left and right brake ducts and their mounting brackets.....comes out to another 100$ US discounted. As well as the M cover lower plastic grill if yours is minus it or damaged.

Would need the lower grills too. So with that i'm probably looking around another £100 (or close enough. So I'm looking at...

bumper: £245
spray & fitting: £200 (or possibly more)
grills + extra bits: £100 (or there abouts)
total: circa £545

MStyle price: £635 sprayed and fitted

hmmm... the 2nd hand one doesn't look too attractive anymore.

An M bumper is £347 + VAT from BMW, same price as the standard bumper. So £245 is a good price.
Then if you can ring around breakers or leave a request on one of these breaker websites for airducts you may get them cheap. There are also plenty of places that will respray a front bumper for a £100. And fitting is something anyone can do themselves.

So i guees what im saying is £635 seems a lot to me. (unless your in a big hurry)
