M Exhaust upgrade

There is a guy posting on the U.S. forum who is actually in Hampshire selling an RPI system if you are interested

Any link for this? Been after one for a few months and at the right price..

I am dumfounded... The sound my M makes is just so good, very loud like a 60s F1 top end, with a meaty burble lower down and brilliant blip sound. It actually could not be better IMHO.

Either my exhaust is non standard, or you guys are deaf?

Some people love their exhausts Martyn, stock is not good enough. Best thing is that Jess doesn't even have a Z yet unless I missed something - proper forward planning  :D

I am seriously thinking than my my exhaust may well not be stock! Or I am easily satisfied!!

Going by your description I would suggest you have an aftermarket system fitted. After having custom pipes put on my 130 and being used to the popping and noise I find the M rather underwhelming, certainly very mute unless you really get the revs up...

It just depends what you have been used to I think as when I first got my Z4M the biggest disappointment was the noise from the engine/exhaust and it was the same with my V8 M3 too...but I think that was because I was used to how a TVR sounds and they sound great even at idle but had I have not owned a TVR maybe I would have been satisfied but in saying that BMW`s are very muted in general because refinement and noise suppression is the first priority for them as a company I think.

Looks standard in your picture, two ugly bollocks hanging down :-) Another reason to upgrade.

Standard exhaust tone is spot in once really warm, just far too quiet.

Have you considered (if you can find one, very rare) the carma FF z4m exhaust? The bmw shop that I take mine to, love it, have specified it's the best sound and build quality they have seen for aftermarket cans for the z4m. My last service there were 3 z4mc's at the shop (picture time) and one had the eissenman system and the carma ff system by far sounded much better, but it's a race exhaust system (carma FF builds f1 systems) and not sure how they would go in your mot.

Any more info about this? A website perhaps? A quick google search for "carmaff" showed nothing...

Well looks like that RPI may be coming my way!

Glad I ventures in here now haha :)

don't be too happy about that :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o :o the novelty will wear off..... great sound and drama, but the drone actually is that bad it reduces enjoyment of the car.... its horrific, it actually rattles the interior its that bad..... i bear it on my weekend only use car... DD, NO WAY.

I've got a couple of GoPro videos from this weekend's Ring trip, showing the Rogue Diablo's in their native habitat. Only slow laps however as I had promised to record some 'chase' laps for friends in an e34 M5, and a 330ci. I'll put the links in this post once I've reduced them down from 1080/60 an put them on youtube.

Did get some comments from passengers on how boomy they were, but I pointed out that we were cruising at 1500-2500rpm so that was to be expected :P

It was a bit of a bust on the number of laps aspect (11 vs my more normal 25+) due to crashes and a 'technical issue' with the emergency telephone system, and it was probably closed for 50% of the time, and there was a 30 minute queue each time it re-opened

Ended up spending more time down at the Cockpit imbiss at Breidscheid than at the track. Still had a good time with the gang though

Well they are going on a daily.. Albeit one that does 10 miles per day, if that.

If it is that bad they may end up being sold on, but I do want a bit more noise from it so why not try!

i picked mine up new from the states on their initial Group buy.... don't get me wrong, they sound "incredible" but the drone that comes with them is such a shame, renders bluetooth useless as well, no-one can hear you.

I also have the RPI's, they definitely do NOT do "a bit more noise"! :D

A lot more noise is fine :)

Am I correct in assuming they fit straight onto the OEM X Pipes? No adjustments/brackets required or anything? Just so I am prepared for their arrival :driving:

Yes will fit straight on the existing pipes and brackets
When's the rpi's coming ?
Could give u a demo depending where u live ?
