It's getting beyond a joke with all the new base models displaying ///M badges.

As said above, completely taking the 'special' out of the brand. Aside from BMW appearing to want to put a badge on every panel, the styling cues between the true ///M and M sport models are getting closer together.

I would never do it, to me it feels like the owner is really saying it's something it isn't , a bit like putting a 3.0 badge on a 2.0. But each to their own, if it makes them happy go for it. When I see it I do question what the driver thinks it adds?. Possibly to an uninformed onlooker it impresses them?.

Mine also came with 1 on the boot but i removed it early on, knowing the real M Z4 is badged as a 'ZM' not a Z4M.
I think it's perfectly ok if u want but not my thing, but I'm chuckling at people's daft responses like it's such a massive taboo along the lines of Badger baiting or gun smuggling lol. It's a badge?
Of corse you wouldn't put Renault badges on it (derrr..), at least it's within brand. It's just a BMW marketing badge, not a engine size figure.
All 'Sport models' come from the factor with M badges on the wheels and the steering wheel. Should we remove these??

Iv also got M bumpers front and rear, because to me there there best looking bumper available plus there BMW bumpers and not aftermarket.
What 1 person thinks is good taste many others will not like. Me personally like to keep a CLEAN and STOCK look to any modification, to some this is frowned at, but I'm not a fan at all of any NON manufacture body modifications and think these look far far worse, but that's up to each owners personal taste and preference.

Do it, and piss a load of people off.
What's wrong with BMW putting M badges on M sport cars? It's the same as Audi putting S Line and Merc putting AMG stuff on theirs....it sells cars because people want sportier versions.......get over it!

No :poke:

When ///M used to stand for ///Motorsport, I would have said no.

Now that ///M stands for ///Marketing, and BMW are the worst offender for plastering the badges everywhere, I'd say that it's your car and it's up to you what badges you stick on it.

I saw this on a few threads and wanted to hear everyones opinion. What do you all think about putting M emblems on a Z that is not a true M? Although maybe cheating a little, its a damn good looking logo, so its kind of hard to not want it. What does everyone else think?

Does it really matter?

You've already labelled yourselves.

Isn't that a "NeverBeen" 'ring sticker? I think there is a bit of irony going on there.

Re. M badges I couldn't really care what people put on their cars. People should do what they want.

Do as you like - if you like it, put it on there.

If you're concerned about what other people think - then as someone said already .. those who know ///M Cars will know it's not an M immediately, so will laugh (i do), those who don't - wont know M is anything special, and will not care or notice it is there either way.

Saying that - people who stick M badges on their non-M cars .. to me.. stand out as people who at least admire the brand, or want one - and may be interested in my car, so i'll happily hoon past them to remind them they want an M :D

You can have///M kit on a car, hence the badge of the steering wheel, it's an ///M wheel but the car is not an ///M.

BMW would never sell you an ///M badge if you gave your VIN or Reg Number and if the car was a mere SE or Sport.

Leave the badges off the non ///M cars. It looks a little desperate "wannabe".

This reminds me of the Blazing Saddles clip!
Badges? Badges? We don't need no stinkin badges!!!! :D
