M Coupe Paint

I am after a bit of advise please, I have had my z4 m Couoe for around 5 months now but just noticed what seems to be a run in the paint running down from one of the door sills- about 5mm wide and 5 cm long...

I have never noticed this before- it seems to have run out of one of the holes in the bottom of the door.

I am just wondering if this is likely to be from the BMW protect that was put on the car when I bought it. possibly running onto the body work after 3 months? Could the BMW protect have hidden the run in the paint?

I am convinced this was not visible when I bought the car and when I have washed the car, last time around 3 weeks ago and now it has just appeared...?

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks

Mike

hi, welcome to the forum.

a picture would be good if possible. if it is a bodywork fault BMW has a 6 year guarantee

Now with pictures, although difficult to see.....

that looks like a run from when the car was srayed at the factory. i dont know what BMW would do about it but it is worth giving them a call. it is a defect afterall.

they might bring it in and spray it up for you if you complain enough :P

Most likely it has been resprayed before you bought it. Nothing you can do about that except get it resprayed.

thanks for the advice- just dont get how I couldn't see it until now, its not exactly a sall run after all.... Off to BMW over the weekend then....

What age is it? I can guarantee that hasn't happened from washing it I'm afraid, and I feel the dealer will have no sympathy in this case. However; it is a good idea to go down there and ask them what can be done.

In the worst case scenario, you'll be looking at circa £200-250 to respray the side skirt.

Not a chance, unfortunately. That is a paint run under the lacquer, and no amount of polishing will get rid of it.

mine has the same even down to the same side so this has happened on the production line.mine is also an 07 car.

Not good! And as said above, you're stuffed! If you want rid you'll have to flatten it out and respray.
