i dont have the electric folding mirror option, can i fold them manually, dont want to force them, also can the folding thing be fitted retrospectively, thanks.

you should be able to fold them manually.....if they have a 'gap' between mirror housing and body arm then yes you can....

They do push in manually. Before you attempt to do this, put a squirt of silicone or WD40 in the gap; these parts can rust and seize.

Sorry but that's bad advice; squirting silicon into the gap will achieve nothing except having grease on your mirror. The mechanism for the mirror consists of two diecast aluminium surfaces with plastic between with very low tolerence for movement, they reside further up behind the actual cover so are very unlikley to be fouled by anything other than the alu oxidising which cannot be cured with silicon grease. the only way to check it without taking it apart is to remove the mirror glass and inspect the join.

They twist in a clockwise spiral towards the window, but it takes a small amount of force.

I'm grumpy so sorry if I sound blunt. :|

can't see why you should get silicone grease all over the mirror. I did this to my Z4MC when I first bought it with absolutely no ill effects to this day.
