It might have been back in the year 2000 when it launched but it's getting on a bit now though, what I do love about the engine is that is has far more depth and character when compared to the current M offerings and for that I think it will always be remembered fondly.CornishRob said:The engine is borderline exotic

Welcome
Yeah I think all 'real' M cars have the quad exhausts from factory.

WOAH....
E28 M5 and E30 M3 - the 2 cars that started it all... twin pipes on those.
I totally agree that the Z4M is the last proper M car though!
For the traditionalist/lovers of a straight six the V8 counts against it I suppose but yes its certainly the last N/A M car though.gaffer1986 said:Clark said:LostBoy_84 said:Welcome

What about the E92 M3?

I thought the S65 V8 in the E92 M3 was something special in terms of the way it revved and its hunger on its top end but similar to the S54 it is a little torque light though, I would have also loved to have seen it put into a Z4 rather than it having to drag 1650kg around with it in the M3.

Mine left me cold too and I had one after my Z4M as wellClark said:LeeZ4MR said:For the traditionalist/lovers of a straight six the V8 counts against it I suppose but yes its certainly the last N/A M car though.gaffer1986 said:What about the E92 M3?

Yes the e92 was the last manual N/A M car, but IMO not really a 'Proper M car' although technically it absolutely is!
The car is mega heavy and being totally honest, having owned one after my z4m left me a bit cold. I have an e91 Sport plus as a daily... and I think its a better car!![]()
Agree that it was classed as an icon back then and still isBeedub said:LeeZ4MR said:It might have been back in the year 2000 when it launched but it's getting on a bit now though, what I do love about the engine is that is has far more depth and character when compared to the current M offerings and for that I think it will always be remembered fondly.CornishRob said:The engine is borderline exotic
funny how ferrari choose to use the same solid lifter set for the new f12 TDF halo car...... the engine is proper, sodium filled exhaust valves, now days we get eco boost engines with no soul at all.... the engine was an icon then and is today.....
