Im seriously thinking about an M front bumper. Any ideas where the best place to source one is from and with all the parts needed such as the brake ducts etc.. And any ideas how much Im looking at??

Im trying to talk myself out of it but I just love the look of it and the fact that the dealer has now refused to replace my foglights under the warranty this is just making more sense.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Guess you have several options. Ebay if you get lucky, Joe @ Soper or.......

M-Style in Romford which is £470 + £180 for painting and fitting.

Thanks Playalistic. Ill keep an eye on Ebay as I have been doing and see if I get lucky

I just paid £381 for a brand spanking new M bumper from BMW themselves. I paid £53 for the front grid/mesh, £21 for each airduct, and £12 for each airduct bracket. I then had my local bodyshop paint and fit.

Exactly £500 then.. Prob another £250 to paint it at a guess?? Hmmm quite expensive but they do look good. Just been reading your post about the under tray problem.. Think that flapping about would annoy the hell out of me. Wonder how much an M under tray is??

I was looking for a while last year and they were wanting silly money on Ebay that by the time you bought the other bits you were within a £100 of buying a brand new one, then I got lucky and a forum member was selling one he had changed his mind over fitting £50 later it was in the back of the wifes car, it needs a bit a work to bring it back up to scratch but will be going on sometime this year.
I managed to get the lower bolts in the other day when just offering up the bumper out of curiosity, but just reading this thread it does look like they maybe some issues with mating the bumper to the undertray.

Anyone know what the crack with the fog lights? When I remove them, do you just leave the wiring loom taped up behind the bumper. Is there any bulb failure warnings or anything from doing this?

Thanks in advance.

Well I found one on ebay. Been in talks with the guy selling over the last few days and go a good deal on it.

Its in Sapphire black, no damage just cosmetic scratches from storage. Ended up paying £160 delivered to me in Sunny Doncaster. Got it booked in the paint shop this weekend for a re-spray £120 and spoke with Joe at Sopers who is sorting all brake ducts / brackets and grilles for £113.00

Cant wait to get it on now :D

I'd just test it to see if you get a bulb out. If you do leave the bulbs in the bulb holder taped up out of the way. Since it will never be on then it doesn't matter.

Thanks CJ... Just had a thought.. What if the fog bulbs could be modded in such a way to illuminate the brake ducts?? would that look good or a bit chavvy.. Shall I just bury my head in the sand a pretend I never said anything?? :tumbleweed:

I can't say anything I have considered trying to mount the foglights within the brake duct or even thought about trying to replicate the Gurt racing look but using an M bumper rather than their add ons.
Just in case you havn't seen it

Thanks RichardG. I have seen these some time ago on here. I tried doing a search for them on the net but couldnt find anywhere that ships them and I think the consensus on here was that they were ruddy expensive and you might aswell go for the M bumper!!

What i was thinkin was having the bulb concealed somehow in the top of the air duct that just let a scattering of light through to dimly light the ducts... Not sure how I would do it though and whether it would look any good?

That just doesn't look right. The front bumper seems 'wrong' somehow.. and white, with white wheels?
It kinda reminds me of a mid-80's xr3i cabriolet.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Keep it as is and don't be tempted to do a Halfords on the brake ducts

retrofit DRL's, using those LED strips?

EDIT: Apologies, just realised it's a bit of a thread hijack - erm, keep the M bumper looking standard.

I actually like the Gurt racing corners. Expensive when last looked into them

Bulbs shining through the ducts - nice imagination and I know you're havin' a larf

I'm getting conflicting info regarding MOT. I asked my local garage in Mildenhall about not having front fog's (If I went to to an M bumper) and they told me the car would fail without front fogs.....yet they sell the bumper over here....So do they not know what's up or am I missing something?

front fog lights are not an MOT requirement.

It's ok to even have them and them not be wired up.

Not having them is no problem at all...
