M badge replacement stickers

...although, looking at a crop of one of the professional shoots we did (for BMW Car magazine), the original but worn sticker on the plenum is much more purple...so I wonder if the bluer ones were later replacements to tidy the car up, because you can see some stickers over the original badges in some shots.

'Original' plenum colours?

Later sticker (you can see the edges of the sticker)?

Ye I think these earlier cars certainly had the purple colour. The Z4 seems to have the darker blue. I think having the process blue with the newer pantone references for the darker blue and red is the right direction 👌🏻

Thanks for all the effort digging out these images and the reference colours.

I have this badge made up for when I need it, came from the guy in US I think

Thanks for this! Attached is the new vs the old. I still think the old one doesnt look right either.
Put me down for a set too please.

Mine are looking more orange than red, like the old photo.

Yes two wings and rear.

Il get intouch with the supplier and get a cost for a batch and report back

Essentially, there is nothing wrong with the plastic badge itself but the M element is a sticker which doesnt last long. With printed vinyl they should last a lot longer and is 10th the cost of replacing the badge then getting them to sit in the right place again is a bit of a pain.

I would also take a set please!

I posted couple of old vs new (in one shot) comparisons earlier in the thread. Prefer the original colours, like the factory liveries of BMW M, in period.
I've done some friendly neighbourhood research using a spare sticker and it looks like the red and dark blue are bang-on. The light blue is miles off but, looking at some older M3 pics, I have a feeling BMW changed the light blue between the E9x and the F8x. It looks like Yas Marina Blue now.

I think this is why its hard. You dont know if the badges shown are OE or non oe replacements. The M5 badge doesnt look right to me.

BMW has tweaked the emblem over the years without much documentation. What is available is the 2020 guidelines which are show above. You can spot the original because of the purple, moving to the 3D design and then to the flat. All three are different.

Our model year is the central version.

Il do a bit more digging. Pretty sure this is correct:

That looks good.

The M5 badge was definitely original (knew the owner/car) but I can't vouch for my phone's camera / DSP!

Could you do a test print and see how it looks against the kick plates. They don’t see much UV so should be as close to correct as you’ll find.

Yes I will go through a sample phase as for me to purchase enough these will be expensive and need to be right

I've had some stickers made, colours attached, anyone interested in purchasing? £35 a set posted. This will re sticker the 3 badges (boot and 2 sides). Pre cut to size ready to stick on.
Professionally made gloss laminated to reduce fading.
Note: this is the sticker only not the whole badge.

Okay so I have looked at the other stickers I had made up, I tried two different suppliers.

The second supplier seems to match the OEM door trim (which I presume is much less faded than the side badges) almost perfectly. So these are the stickers I will send out.

There's 4 sets available @£35 each.
