///M Annual Insurance Renewal....Result!

I'm guessing just over £1000 isn't too bad for unlimited miles, business use, SDP&C, parked on road/drive in Liverpool. That's with the 20-30% premium everyone seemed to increase quotes by last year. Bell & LV were the closest 2, but I chose Bell because it was LV who removed my 'inclusive track day cover' from my renewal without informing me (luckily I'd never needed to claim on it).

Although hate to guess what they'd charge without all my no claims discount :o

Wasn't much more at 24 chap. Mid 600's iirc. My misses puts my premium up as she's only 23.

I'm also with Admiral, with the V6 on as a Multicar.

Drac.....

I am the OP.

I am an obsessive in driving down insurance premiums, always have been.
I always use the comparison websites. They vary in price also with the same company, for example this year Elephant was the cheapest on Confused and nearly £50 dearer on MoneySupermarket. With the meerkats and go compare in the middle of the two.
For me sticking my missis on the policy brings it down over £100, she has never driven the car and never will.
Every year I select Firefighter for my occupation even though I am a Watch Manager (junior officer). This year on Confused I had the choice between Firefighter and Fire Officer. Fire Officer brought the premium down £40....why?
I always go for £250 voluntary x/cess on top of the £100 compulsory.
This year I have turned 40, not sure if this is a trigger point to lower premiums?

Apart from the above buddy...It must be down to the postcode? As I too have it limited too 5,000 miles and it's protected.

Peddy....the company that f**ked up my max no claims and said 9yrs was the max and hence then told Admiral that last year in the letter was none other than Chris Knott!

Cheers for the advice, I suppose I've not been trying hard enough - I'm used to insuring a Clio 182 and this is my first renewal of the ///M so a grand for insurance has come as a bit of an unexpected shock :o

I'll get stuck into the comparison sites a bit harder!

On the occupation front, my job as a Building Control Surveyor probably costs more than a 'local government officer'! I'll change that and see. I'll also up the excess, although when I've done this in the past it doesn't make *that* much difference unless you really crank it up.

srhutch I'll give classicline a shot, although I very occasionally use my car for commuting - couple of times a month so that may cause a problem.

srhutch
Paid my £422 to Elephant....but out of curiosity thought I'd give Classic Line a tinkle.

They came back with £684!! (only 50%+ more expensive)

Just goes to show...Car insurance companies charge what they want to who they want!

It all depends on their target demographic though. What may be appealing for one insurer, may not be so appealing for another.

That's why there's no point really ever recommending an insurer as such, because whilst they're good for you, they may not be good for someone else.

Just got a quote on a Z4MC from Elephant. Ready for this - - - -

£2934 !!!!!

40 yrs old, 30 yr old GF, garaged, L33 postcode, 12k miles p.a. incl business use, 4 yrs no claims, £350 XS.

Shocking really, assume it is the postcode.

Cheapest on go compare is £1,258 with One Quote Direct, never heard of them.

So much for bargain M insurance, at least not in Liverpool anyway!

Admiral multicar policy with just me and my eleven years of no claims on both policies living in London - £900 for the ///M (garaged, but lots of mods) and £600 for the 320d (flat forecourt or road). I think being a doctor adversely loads my premium as they assume I must be tired all the time. Also six points might have something to do with it  Think my Westfield is under £200 pa, but that's a specialist policy.

yep, kit car insurance can be crazy cheap. My old Fisher Fury R1 (0-60 in about 3.8 secs, 0-100 in 9) was £148 with 3k miles. Madness.

Another victory for Admiral multicar.

Only £562 for the year for the MR, age 32 in outer London and ten years no-claims. That's even with my other half allowed to drive, even though she has had her UK licence for less than a year. She'll never drive it, but it's a useful backup.

The really odd thing is how the amount for my daily driver, a Skoda Octavia, comes out at £579. The grouping is far lower and it's worth less, though I do a couple of thousand more miles and there's only seven years NCD. In fairness, they hike the price for its remap but even without it would still have been over £500.

It helps that my occupation is one that sets insurance premiums, so it's bound to be considered lowest risk. I don't personally deal with car insurance (or pricing anymore), but can confirm that pricing is a mixture of science and dark art. :D

£525 here. £350 excess, mother on policy (!), c5000 miles pa, parked on drive at home address, SD&P only with Keith Michaels.

Admiral wanted £570 and their direct debit terms were comically expensive as was Aviva Multicar.

My trouble is my Dover postcode, I have to pay for all the bumps involving lorry drivers, lost tourists and people rushing for their ferries at Dover Port.

I think a move is on the cards and I'm looking forward to a drop in premium.

My £680 for a 530d and Z4M is looking better than I even thought! I knew it was damn good back in February but some of those quotes are off the scale.
That was with More Than, or not as the case maybe.

I'm with Admiral too. About £800 for me. Car left on the road (until garage is sorted anyway) I'm 26 with 9 years NCB with my Z4M.

Im 44 and have 8 Years no claims bonus with 6 Points the cheapest quote i have been on the comparison websites is £1200 And that for a 2007 z4 Coupe 3.0 sport so thats not even an M i think i am being shafted but its the cheaperst that coming up on the comparison sites

Ok, finally got the insurance sorted for a not unreasonable £520 with Admiral on a multi car with the Mrs's MGF. Quite a difference from the £1013 on my renewal. The only thing I have changed is the excess which has gone from £100 to £350. Despite getting direct quotes from Admiral for around the £800 mark, the best quote I got was through a comparison website which linked me through to Admiral's website and I phoned the number on there. Admiral managed to undercut themselves by nearly £300. I honestly give up on ever understanding this insurance lark :headbang: not that I'm complaining though! I asked the operator how it all works to give these differences and I really don't think they knew either...

Drac...Top Man!

Do you need my address to post me some beers! With the money i've saved you! :D

S'pose I do owe you a couple of beers - all it needed was a bit of creativity and determination - Cheers  I'm normally too lazy with this but had to make an effort this time

It's a little surprising to find the same insurance company giving different quotes on different comparison websites and that's what seemed to make the difference. Rang through to Admiral from the number off one comparison site and they're not interested in discounting the quote, yet rung through from another and they knock literally hundreds off....
