M adaptive suspension vs shocks/springs 35is

Heyoo I have been stuck on this for awhile but I have been wanting a more comfortable ride for my 2011 BMW 35is, the roads are just seemingly too bumpy. I have heard that Koni SA are pretty good and was hoping I could get some insight on which would be better for a daily driver. I am not using the car for track or anything, just a nice overall daily. I believe my 35is has the M adaptive suspension as well, should I keep OEM or change it out for KONI SA or B8s? tyty!

I’ve not used the Konis but the Bilstein B8 on stock MSport springs is quite a reasonable ride…imho the adaptive dampers never really got it right..

What tyres are you on Heintang..? Run flats are the issue if you’re on them, they’re hideous compared to, say, Michelin sport whatever is available, they’re all good, I really like the adaptive dampers, spring rates are not so good so personally it’s the springs I’d be looking to change if you're on non run flats.

I currently replaced my runflats with michelin all seasons i believe. if its the springs what do you recommend for a comfier ride? wasnt necessarily looking to lower the ride height, maybe .75 lower is fine

ahh I was stuck between those, I think im leaning more towards koni SA due to being the best of both worlds in a sense. I have heard that with lowering the ride a bit, many people have encountered bottoming out and scraping. I was wondering what the best route to reduce that is, sorry totally new to the modding scene T-T

Personally I avoid dropping lower than msport stock height most folks don't do it properly anyway and it ruins the geo and no benefit to ride or handling..but each to their own..

So I had some brain fade earlier and forgot what I’d done, had a hot day in the workshop…

What really, REALLY made my 35is better was H&R anti roll bars front and rear, absolutely transformed the ride and handling, for the better in every respect. I was shocked at the difference. I’ve tried Eibach springs on the 35is and for me they’re a bit hard, I’m sure they’d suit other people however, but the roll bars we’re perfect without spending on, say, KWV3 coil overs, pricey but superb, I have them on my 35i, so the roll bars are my suggestion, money well spent imo, unless your wallet happy to go coil overs.

thank you so much! I saw many people recommended that upgrade as well as M3 control arms, dont got the money to drop for all of them at once so Im upgrading little by little

M3 control arms are a small step upgrade Hein, you absolutely don’t NEED them, they’re really only if budget allows and you’re looking for any small improvement possible, I’ve got them, they absolutely don’t have the night and day transformation that the anti roll bars have. On my 35is I put some Eibach springs on as I had some, too hard for me personally, but the anti roll bars front and rear made my eyes wide, absolutely fantastic upgrade, imo you don’t need anything else, it’s really that good on them.
