Lumbar support

My back isn't enjoying the lack of lumbar support on the E89 seat with 19 inch wheels (non run-flats). I don't think the suspension is that much harder than my very old E36 (with sports kit) so I think it's mainly the seats and lack of lumbar.

There are a few products out there and just wondering if anyone has tried any of them:

1. Halfords: https://www.halfords.com/motoring/car-accessories/car-seat-covers-cushions/halfords-gel-and-memory-foam-lumbar-cushion-585627.html

2. Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07T4BMN8Z/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&th=1

3. AliExpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003206337420.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.5ad1656dfwOvXh&algo_pvid=dd8ad464-fe16-41c2-b2de-ef10e4198245&algo_exp_id=dd8ad464-fe16-41c2-b2de-ef10e4198245-2&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22sku_id%22%3A%2212000024657815723%22%7D&pdp_npi=2%40dis%21GBP%2146.46%2135.31%21%21%21%21%21%402100bdec16620490372214064ef12a%2112000024657815723%21sea&curPageLogUid=lk1SNxidzGT8

Any views would be appreciated.

If anyone has bought the AliExpress one, I'm curious about the red colour. Although it says "volcanic red" it looks close to my "coral red" seats - by any chance has anyone actually bought this combination and know if the colours are similar?

Thanks for any help.

Tony

If you have 19" wheels, do you not have an Mpsort spec car? Msport seats have electric lumbar control, even manual ones. Button is on the front corner of the lower seat squab. If you have SE spec then don't know.

Hi, yes it’s MSport on a 2015 E89. I do have manual seats with electric backrest width, but there is no lumbar support - the circular button is blanked out.

Sorry I thought that was the lumbar support. I know nothing! :o

When I bought my Z, I'd thought I'd made a double mistake. Both the tyres and the seats were crap. The tyre solution was easy, of course, but it took a month to get the seat setting right. Luckily, it came on 18" wheels, but even now, six years later, if the Romanians do the interior and change the seat settings even a bit, it takes a while to get them just right again.

So, tonyg, I recommend patience and, if push comes to shove, better wheels.

Thanks guys for the responses. I do like my 19inch wheels and the Michelin Sport tyres are great, esp not being RFT’s. Today I used a cushion from home and the extra lumbar support really helped.

I’m thinking I’m going to buy the Ali Express lumbar support and also there’s a Z4 cushion on Ali that I’m also going to buy. Interestingly, I’ve also discovered a company that retrofit an electric lumbar support solution for £300ish so that could also be a solution.

Ooowww will have to check mine in the morning, never thought of looking :)
You are looking for a button like this (don't confuse it with the bolster control)61-31-8-352-291-BOE.jpg

There's lumbar support and the under-the-knees-pull-out-flap on mine, but it's still getting the main seat adjustments right that's crucial to pain-free driving.
