Lumbar support -after market solution?

As I am hunting for the right Z4 to buy but am concerned regarding a number of commenst regarding lack of seat support in the lumbar region.

All my cars in the last umpteen years have had some sort of built in lumbar support.

It may not be a big issue as likely to do low mileage -but I have had to make the decision of selling a car in the past just because I could not get comfortable on long journeys.

Of course there are the obvious solutions -rolled up towel etc- but I was wondering if anyone had found an aftermarket solution. Many yeras ago I bought a bladder type thing which pumped up and slipped in the back of my wifes MX5 seats and that was quite effective.

Wondering whether kind of things is easy to do if needed on the Z4?? I am assuming noone of the seats have an optional adjustable lumbar support on 2003-2006 models?

replacement seats?

do you need it to be inbuilt? - else there are plenty of strap-on lumbar pads (my dad used to use them in his Golf before getting a bimmer)

Yes, unfortunately no lumbar support until 2009 onwards E89.

Thanks Braingirl/WonderMike
Didn't really want a "pad" solution, but maybe will need to consider - doesn't seem anyone else has either had such a problem with lumbar suupport?
Wasn't sure how easy it would be to install something inside the seat?

TBH its not something many people complain about. I'm 6'3" and just fit in the cockpit with the seat jammed back against the bulkhead and even I manage to get enough recline to support my bad back (three lowest vertebrae shot to buggery) during a 10-hour drive.

Just try tipping it back more and see how it feels

I am a bt confused in that a number of used (early model) Z4 ads show "lumbar support" in the ads (although not adjustable lumbar support) Perhaps that's a ;itt;le poetic licence in that there is some built in support?
