Luke and his Z - Getting there!

Yeah I got seriously peed off with that clip. Had to walk away and leave it for 15mins before I kicked the dash in haha. It's really sharp too! Once I got it out I then learnt you can get to it by removing the glovebox.

I managed to remove the lower centre without fully removing the rear section, I just loosened that cable and lifted the big part up and wedged it between both seats. Somehow worked.

I've not got intravee :(.
Really want the corner of the hockey stick lit up :(

Note to self... USE A PLASTIC PRYING TOOL :headbang:

Quick sand down and job done though :)

Someone else had the dash out before hand too and didn't use a plastic tool :headbang:

Vent surround needs a touch up too

Hahaha!!! I did exactly the same!! I used a microfibre to stop it being so sharp!!

I've got to remove the rear section anyways to get the TV tuner plugged in so in for the long hall :D

Hmm, I've only heard that being done when you swap the pre facelift lights to the facelift ones and code it that way. Neil with the lovely orange Z on here has this done

Centre console was a right sod to get out! Think it's harder if you have the cd changer and nav unit in the cubby.
The metal part is held on with a ridiculous amount of bolts too once you get it out! More than what holds the car together I think

I want audible locking on mine! Also want my front amber drls coding on. Don't know how too. Or have anyone I know up here :(

Cd changer and nav have no effect on removing trim. Only BT cradle makes it slightly harder.

What are you doing to your trim Luke?

I'm considering going for a real carbon fibre skin on my spare set...

Rob, real carbon skin would look lovely! I'm edging to using the 3D carbon fibre wrap to do it. Have you already got the CF skin to do yours? Where did/will you get the material from? What cost?

I've had the BT cradle out before which was a bit of a pig!
Looking outward to tomorrow lunch time to take it all out!
Not so looking forward to driving without the trims in place! Will disassemble everything at work, wrap it that evening (if I have time) then replace everything the next day!

Started with the dash this evening whilst my wife wa on the phone to her mum... AGES!!
The we've was different direction than my steering wheel so I had to use 2 runs if it. Was worried about a really obvious line but think it's come out pretty good...

Bottom under radio unit... Squint and you can see it!

Top, not a brilliant picture... Light is rubbish! Few bubbles to iron out here

Light control unit (same direction as dash!)

Starting the surrounds on the temperature control unit (same direction as rear of dash)

howcome you split the vinyl on the radio bit?

get some heat on it and them bubbles will iron out

Because the length of the strip was the wrong weave direction I wanted so had to split it!

Did you buy any vinyl tools for the smoothing out? I've got a few samples of different 3M vinyl but it looks like it would mark easily as it is matte so wondered if you use a soft tool to push it out

Credit card wrapped in a microfibre works pretty well.

Nice job luke. Mines not perfect but better than the scratched aluminium underneath. Going to get it all sprayed gloss black at some point.

I used a card wrapped in a sock! (Couldn't find any microfibres :headbang: ) did the job nicely though!

The other parts finished off...

Heated the lot up once again and bubbles pushed out a treat. I got a wrap that had small grooves on the back to release air and it worked a real charm once heated  still got lots left for the centre console too :) just gotta gain enough motivation to pull the lot out now!!

I'm pulling it out tomorrow I think, so I can finally run the tv aerials from the cubby to the dash and up into the A pillars. Joy.

Aah, good luck! I'm still trying to figure out how to achieve Apple TV playback through the screen for my install!
Will probably attack getting the TV parts in next weekend and do the centre console at the same time
