Luke and his Z - Getting there!

I changed the boot bumpers for 23 Nm sprung ones as well a while back: I found it to be just the difference needed to be able to properly open the boot with one hand.

Wrap is looking tidy! Inside that is; the picture showing the passenger mirror ... uhhhhmmmm ... shows some room for improvement? :D Just kidding you there, don't take it as an insult. I would expect wrapping to be really a case of trial and error isn't it?

If I may add one suggestion: how about some Perlglanz door openers? Not that expensive, easy to install and they will nicely complement your center vents, AC controls and MFSW controls.

I've been thinking about this too, but I like the aluminium panels too much.
I am considering to wrap the mid section under the handbrake handle though, as it gets scratches when you put your keys or change in it...

 room for improvement is an understatement!! They were a real PITA to do! Will get a proper set one day!
Never heard of Perlglanz openers? Will have a google!

Boot bumpers are brilliant! Subtle but effective

^Not the best picture in the world, but this is what "Perlglanz" (upper) compared to normal (below) looks like. They might have a different name in the UK though.

Anyhow, it is the same type of "chrome" as are for example your facelift AC controls and is found in more places throughout the facelift models (these are facelift / M type door openers).

They look pretty tasty! Will look out for some on ebay I think! I've changed most of the interior to facelift - Radio, Vents, AC controls etc so this would go nicely

^Yep, forgive me for picture hijacking your thread, but I know how it feels: the not so much '03 anymore interior of my '03 Z4:

As you will note the door openers blend in perfectly

That looks great! Did you change the face plate on the radio and the vents though to stay grey? Where did you get the knobs from?

I only changed the faceplate on the facelift center air vents. I have not been able to source a facelift radio at a decent price yet. As soon as I do, the grey radio goes out and the black faceplate goes back on the heater vents.

The knobs are those of an X3. Given that you already have a facelift radio it is a matter of simple plug and play. This is the part number you need (twice):

Are the stems the same size on the facelift radio then? From memory they are different thicknesses in the pre facelift one so two different sizes are needed?

In the facelift stems are the same size. In the pre facelift they are not. The knobs are based on the smallest stem, so you have to slightly enlargen the opening in one of the knobs. No biggie: not more than five minutes of work ans still a snog fit ...

Well... Needless to say it's been a while since I've been on or posted!! things have just been so busy with work, moving house, traveling etc.

The Z is still going strong! Pushing around 120k miles now and still pulling strong! BUT I think the time has come that I may be cleaning her up ready for sale at the beginning of the new year
Work is going crazy at the minute and I've always used the Z for many many motorway miles and I've been looking at a 2009 330d m sport that tickles my fancy and which would be a more economical motor for me and still a fun car to drive. Something like this:

Will pop a for sale thread soon enough but if anyone is interested... Let me know! Not sure what it's worth now but I'm going to throw in the heated leather seats I haven't got rid of and any other spares I have lying around! (TV module for example!)

Will still be popping in here as it's just a brilliant place for banter, some great fellas and excellent knowledge.
Still in two minds weather to keep the Z and have the 2 but I have nowhere at the min to keep it!!

Exploring options anyways!

Why not consider swapping it for a more economical E89 2.0 turbo? (at least I think it is more economical?)
Aren't there any diesel Zeds out there as well? (never checked it to be honest)

Still think you've been around anyways Luke, with your "brutha from another mutha", JE - the avatars confuse me :)

Be sad to see you go, your cars always a delight to see. Hopefully you'll still get to silverstone!

I have been meaning to message you. Just to check you where alive!! Glad things are going well buddy

That is a nice car to be changing too. And I don't think you will have any problems selling your car. I think you will have better luck selling it on hear. I will vouch for it being a good clean car. I have seen it enough.

Glad you and the family are doing good.

Sell me back the rear lights please

3 series is lovely. My neighbour has a vert 325i and he loves it. My Z4 looks like a baby brother parked next to it.
