Looking sweet Luke

Mine - on a facelift - are not that tight a fit, but I did find them a b1tch to line up properly after I had mine out to try and discover why only one fog light worked (I know why now  ). Perhaps there is some subtle difference to the mounting plate or surround on the prefacelifts ?

I think the surround is quite a bit different than just the two brackets that come down inside them I had to cut away the side of the surround too for them to fit in properly. Got there in the end though!

Little pic of the reverse lights at night (taken whilst not reversing!! )

No lights just reverse

Your reversing lights look brighter than my headlights!

Love your car Luke!

Your thread is preventing me from doing any work today. I'm on and off your thread, eBay and Ali Express constantly!

Do you have rear spacers or do the wheels just fit snug? Looking to get some for my 108's

Bloody epic work Luke, I've been a bit behind with it.

The wheel bearings, I'm full of questions, sorry:

Who changed them? You?

If not, how much?

If so, could you write me a method? I couldn't remove the rear hub, I just couldn't see where the bloody hand brake cables disappeared off to etc..

Morning sunshine!!
I got a friend to do the bearing for me. We have plenty of tooling to shake a stick at at work BUT no bearing press! :(
He charged £120 to do the pair which I didn't think was too bad. Takes out all the hassle etc and i didnt have to worry about anything!

Glad to hear i am helping you spend your hard earned money!!
When i had the 108s on i ran a 20mm spacer at the rear and 15mm on the fronts. I now dont have spacers on the rear due to the offset of the wheels but still run the 15mm spacers at the front to push them out to the same point as the rears
Makes a big improvement aesthetically to the car in my opinion!

Bit of an update...

Ive got my MOT tomorrow and during the last service there were a few bits that needed attention so before it goes in for its MOT it is receiving...

New Radiator (last cold spot pushed the bottom end of the radiator down and bowed it! Its not burst but would rather get it changed!)
New Control Arms
New Control Arm Bushes (rear)
New Rod Ends
Coilovers going on
Tracking done
Ballast or ignitor or bulb changed (whichever needs to be changed!)

Cheers for the above. Sorry I'm going to badger you with questions purely for my own interest.... Did you watch him do the bearing?

If so, did he take the whole rear arm off? If so, did he disconnect the exhaust to get towards the handbrake cables?

If he didn't, did he use a slide hammer?

You'll be fine on the MOT, especially with all that replaced (blimey!)

Is it the rear trailing arm bushes you're doing? The big ones that are hidden "inside" the body? If so, I poly bushed mine and they're a bit of a git tbh!

All the best mate and good luck

Cheers dude! After taking off the bumper and lights again to see what was up, I changed the ballasts and that was the offending article :headbang: £65 lighter now and one ordered for delivery tomorrow (hopefully before the MOT!
Can take the bumper off and lights out now in just a few mins! Amount of time I've done the stupid job!! Only using a little multi tool too!

Badger away mate!!
To be honest I left the car with him for the morning as I've been stupid busy at wok and picked it up all done.

I'll be seeing him again tomorrow though so will ask him how he did it and present your questions to him!

Yea it's the rear bushes. Think the other two joins on the wishbone are simply bolted to the chassis with no bush. Shocking! Lol!
I toyed with the idea of using powerflex bushes but I don't need or want it to be like a rock! Changing all of the above will improve the handling by some margin I am sure anyways.

Decided I won't have enough time or energy to put the Coilovers on tomorrow so that remains a project one day in the Christmas break!

Little update...

Ballast turned up late so had to delay the MOT till after the new year :(

After driving my Dad's car which has parking sensors I decided I loved them!
So found this thread: http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=25979&start=45
Bought 2 of them (front and rear) and will fit them when they get here.

Steering wheel will also be sorted at the beginning of the new year.

Coilovers will be fitted too!

Will be having a day or two off work next week to do the lot

hows your car lowered currently? anything up for sale :)
Lowered on FK springs at the min. TBH the ride is pretty good. a little harsh but with the driving i do its pretty comfy!
Springs are already taken for but i have the heated electric seats that are up for grabs and a couple of other things probably! Will have a route around and pop something up in the For Sale area!

id struggle parking on my driveway without my pdc. although my front ones dont work :(
They arrived today so i am excited to get them on!

The car passed its MOT today! :D little naughty leaving it this late but ho hum! Passed first time which i am happy about! means the frames i made for the seats etc are all as they need to be

I have just ordered a steering wheel from Royal Steering and i cant wait for that!!
Yet to book time off to fit everything to the car but will probably be at the end of next week sometime!

Been having a look into shaving the door handles off again...
Thought of a nice place to put a door opening button that is only activated when the car is unlocked etc... Just need to bite the bullet and bring the car in for a weekend!

What happened to the spoiler and start button?

Spoiler was in a fire a good few months back at the body shop and I've not had time to let them have the car and finish the work to get the spoiler on! Shame since I've had the spoiler nearly a year now!!

The Start / Stop button I am waiting to get another key coded for the car before I fit it. I don't want to have to turn the ignition them press a button. I want it completely keyless.
The transponder in the key has to be recognised as being in the key barel for the car to start. The kit comes with a bypass but you have to put a transponder in it constantly for it to work.
Still got to figure out a way to make an automatic steering lock that locks / unlocks with the car alarm.
I'll get there though!!

Front overhaul completed!

New front wishbones E46
New Bushes
New Tie Rods

Feels so different up front! Much firmer and planted. Feels great!
Soon as I get the Coilovers on next week I'll get the alignment done which will finish it off just nicely!

Slowly making progress again!

Whereabouts in Northampton are you going for the alignment? Need to get mine checked sooner than later. Thanks.
