Hi guys does anyone know the cheapest place to buy these for 3.0si coupe 2008, and are luk oem for these parts ? Cheers in advance

I always thought that sachs was the oem clutch supplier, but if I look at the ECS website, their oem version has a valeo stamp on it...
So Luk definately not  (not that that matters imho; LUK is an excellent brand)

Mister auto usually is cheap with parts.
You could look if there's a 240mm clutch alternative. Stock is 228mm (most 3 series 3 litres have 240mm)

Thanks for the reply if I changed to the 240 mm clutch would I have to change the flywheel to a bigger one and would this effect the performance of the car ?sorry for all the questions thanks again

No it fits on the same flywheel.
The e90 330i flywheel is the same partnumber, but that also uses a 240mm clutch.
So if you see at mister auto (or similar parts suppliers) a compatible clutch for your car but that is 240mm, it will fit.

At misterauto, both the luk and the sachs clutch they offer for your car seem to be 240mm (or so they say):

Dont forget to also replace the clutch release bearing.
For mounting the clutch you need a special tool to center the clutch plate as the SAC pressure group has a special retainer in the center, so you cant use a normal stick type generic center tool.

Hi,
Try

Was around the best price (When you take into account free P&P) when I was looking around a couple of months back - As a matter of interest the clutch plate although carrying a LUK part no and in a LUK box, had valeo stamped on it (?).

Should also mention the N52 engined cars use a different clutch and flywheel to the M54 engined cars (It's also cheaper :) )

Stu.

Special tools ! that's all I need done an e46 before just can't remember how I lined it up think I cheated with help from an on line video and the clutch is ok on my car it's just the flywheel chatter is starting to get annoying only 38k on her just loud when it warms up and at low speeds does my head in sounds like a massey Ferguson so goin to gather up the parts up here and sort it out

Roundozo just bought this from GSF when they had one of their regular 40% off deals. He'd be able to let you know how much that was (just ask on his thread maybe, it's just down the page)

Hi OP,

I have recently done a clutch and DMF change. Bought it all from GSF with their 35% discount if you give them your email. To be honest they all work out about the same. I paid just over £400 for......

DMF
Clutch kit
Prop shaft coupling
Air filter
Oil filter
Gearbox mounts

I also bought new gearbox plugs for an oil change and the same for the diff.

If you have the 3.0si N52 engine you will also need new aluminium bell housing bolts as these are single use and so are some of the clutch bolts. RealOEM is your friend.

The DMF is held on with T60 hex bolts (this is not usually in standard sets) so make sure you have this size. They're available from machine Mart relatively cheap.

Special tools wise you 100% need a clutch alignment tool and a DMF locking tool (if your changing this too). I was lent the clutch alignment tool from machine monkey and this can be sent to you (it's now a forum tool) for cost of postage. BUT and its a big BUT........ Be careful here. Unfortunately the plastic tool that this is has a slight amount of play. If the clutch is not aligned correctly then the input shaft won't go back in. I think if some tape were wrapped around it to make it more snug then it might work. For me it was too late. I had to drop my car off to my friendly mechanic to remove my clutch and then re-install it with his clutch alignment tool (metal).

I will be more than happy to send the clutch alignment and DMF tool if you like. Then when you're finished you can pass it on to the next person who needs it.

I hope that helps.

T60 torx bolts ;)
You should always have a T60 1/2" socket in your toolset imho. Its used quite a lot in cars. Sometimes for steering wheel bolts, and sometimes for the untensioning grip from belt tensioners (so you can need them when replacing a multirib belt).

Correct. Sorry was typing while walking. I'm a man and unable to multitask. My original set annoyingly only went to T55!! So close but yet so far!

Yes I also have a set that goes to t55, very common.
Bought a T60 and 70 1/2" on ebay once.

And I seem to have a t60 bit (in another toolset).... in a larger/thicker format (8mm hex drive) than normal bits are (obviously to make it stronger). No idea what kind of tool standard that is. (normal bits are 1/4" hex drive)

In that scope you also need to have a 14mm hex key (for for example the diff drain plug), that is also uncommon in sets.
And a 7mm hex key if you work on various cars (for the brake disc retaining screw). Also not common.

Thanks very much for your replies guys goin to ask a friend for the steel alignment tool thanks for the offer so I need new flywheel bolts, clutch pressure plate bolts and the bearing that engages the clutch anything else I have forgot ? thanks for the help guys
