Luggages for Z4

Hi everyone, I'm planning to drive to Italy this summer and I was wondering if anybody bought and (especially) used some of these Z4's custom made luggages http://www.roadsterbag.co.uk/BMW-Roadsterbag-luggage.html
Are they any good? Are they really worth it?
May thanks.

Looked at these previously, but when I emailed the company to ask for dimensions, although they replied quickly, they wouldn't tell me the external dimensions, citing competitive reasons! They told me the capacity in litres, but thats not much use in checking sizes for hand luggage etc.

If you find the dimensions, please post!!!!

Oooh! I am planning that for next year. I want a full report when you get back!

I have them & rate them very highly. The Wheely bags aren't very wide but they're pretty deep to make up for it. If you can fit all your gear into them, being able to put the roof down whilst full of luggage is a definite plus. However, I've changed to non runflats so carry the BMW mobility kit meaning that I don't benefit from this. Although I do like the fact it all stows neat and tidily.

Kevin mark white. Did you miss the last item on the page it would suit the car very nicely!

Just buy soft bags with wheels, there are plenty around cheap enough. Soft bags mean you can squash/pack them to shape and will be far less expensive that custom made stuff... with the added advantage that you can use them in your next car! Custom ones you may need to sell when you change cars...

I've got an old set for my E85 roadster and frankly agree with Maniac. Their shape and configuration make them pretty much useless for any other purpose but the Z4's boot, so I wouldn't waste your money.

Thanks guys for your answers. It doesn't sound sound to me like a good investment, better go then for a soft pair of bags and enjoy the money somewhere else.

Actually i'd vote for the luggage set, i bought the roadster bag kit for my departed e89, found it fantastic for the car, fitted loads in during our drives around europe and still find the bags really useful for trips post e89. Soft bags can mean uneven shapes to pack around and although that was the route i took for many years with various cars the shaped luggage meant we stowed much more :)

Do you mean you've still got your roadster bags? If you have do you want to sell them?

Dont wish to sound like a cheeky ***

Taking the new one away this year. Ferry booked from the Tyne. Down thro Germany into the Black Forest, thro Zurich and over the Spluga onto the Lake Como area.

The traction control will stay on!

Where does the ferry dock in Germany? I didn't know they started this back up...

Somethings gone wobbly here!

I was replying to Carol M's post, but never mind!

The ferry ( DFDS boats) Sail to ijmuiden in Hollland and it a nice easy trip down thro Germany. We do 200 /250 mile hops and that's about right for me.

I did all the sums and although its £380 return It was no cheaper to drive down to the channel ports and having an overnight stay.

I think the ferry you refer to was the one from Shields to Hamburg? That doesn't run any more and cost an arm and a leg in its day! I think we got three gallons of five star for a quid then!

Take a tip - BOOK EARLY! (online) and you'll save enough for a nice very nice meal en route.

Also its best if you avoid travel on a Friday night - It can be like a night in the Bigg Market!
