Lucky Escape - check your house locks

So last weekend we had the police round. Turns out a neighbour was broken into and car keys and car stolen. Police were curious if they had tried to get into ours.

Fortunately Beedub's awful experience made us get off our backsides and change the locks to ones that snap off if a burglar tries to break in. Police said that was likely why they didn't try.

Police think there was a gang as more than one house was broken into, so we could have lost all our cars - its worth checking your locks if you have upvc doors
 
These are the chaps- about £35-£40 a lock. Police said they were worth their weight in gold.

Lucky escapce buddy it's a major worry people getting into your house and steeling your car. It happens to a friend of mine. Horrible to think someone's been in your house!!

What happend to beedub???
 
He got some people in his house with a gun if I remember correctly. I know if people are determined to be in then it's hard to stop them.

At least the zed was safe as they would have had to move the cayman to get at it ;)
 
It's not just UPVC doors, it's anything that uses a Euro profile, British or Scandinavian Oval cylinder that can be "snapped". A well made snapper bar can work on as little as 3mm of protruding lock. Probably the same for a decent mole grip. So even if you go to an anti-snap cylinder make sure you have them correctly fitted.

UPVC doors can actually be lifted open using a spreader, especially if the upper and lower mushrooms or hooks aren't engaging properly, so check this too.

Lucky escape.

I got broken into a few years ago... While i was sleeping upstairs.. Police say they were after the car too, luckily i took the keys upstairs (which i randomly did that night as i dont usually)

I got my backdoor upgraded with additional locks as they had lifted the backdoor open, added window knock alarms and got an alarm and a wireless camera fitted - so when i am away and the alarm goes off (which calls my mobile) I have surveillance. Also have sticker galore with warnings the house is alarmed and expensive items marked with smartwater.

But never upgraded my front door security... Going to see of i can order some if these locks after i measure the size of my current ones so thanks :thumbsup:
