LS7/T56 in Z4 build

Still working along, lots to report but to lazy to take pictures lol... My long tubes ran into a bind getting past the control arm mount requiring me to build tubular control arms. I'm almost finished with the control arms (jobs, they gets in the way of everything...).

A great swap !

Update:

Massive rewire in process. Removing wires that aren't needed and running new wires where necessary. Still trying to find a good wiring diagram so I can sort out the fuse box.

Turns out there is an unused hole directly behind the driver's side cylinder head that is just about perfect match for my engine harness grommet.

Very happy about that as the engine harness will basically "disappear" once the fuel rail covers are installed. Inside the car, the harness will be just to the left of the HVAC housing and is accessible.

That looks as easy as tuning the radio! Good luck with it :o

What an impressive project. BMW planet have the full WDS, well worth checking it out.

Will you be fitting an LSD? The earlier comments mention traction and one would certainly help.

Hey,

I've been using the BMW planet info, unfortunately it's not complete enough. I'm trying to pin out the fuse box so I need to know what the plugs are. The way BMW Planet is setup, you have to know the circuit you are looking for (ex: fuel pump) then you can trace it. If you don't know the circuit, you don't know which schematic to look at. I ordered a set of diagrams which say they are more complete, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I swapped in a complete E46 M3 rearend long before I began the engine swap, so I already have an LSD. With that said, once I get the car up and running, I'm going to pull the LSD and have it rebuilt/upgraded as the stock variable LSD won't live long behind a 650 hp 427.

Massive time jump? Have I missed something?

Nice looking project! I'll echo what's been said before. We need more pictures! Even if it's from things you've long since completed!
