LS7/T56 in Z4 build

This is a fantastic build, really enjoying this.

Would it be worth getting a fresh coat of paint on the engine bay while you have the chance? Lifting the bonnet (Hood) will be a regular occurrence for you in the near future, so you want to ensure that theature centre piece is looking good.

I'm planning to give the engine bay a coat of something (black "paint" of some kind). I'm thinking Por15 at the moment but need to do some research. It certainly needs to have some kind of repaint as the original 10 year old paint is looking pretty dull. Besides, I'll need to paint over welds and I want everything to match.

Maybe you could use that kind of stuff which is used in he back end of pick-ups? Can't recall the name, but it's very strong stuff.

Are you planning any cosmetic mods once the new motor is in place? Also there will be a lot of power going to the rear wheels, will you need wider rubber on the rear? I also own a 2007 Corvette Z06, mine often fights for grip with 12" wide wheels wearing 325 rubber. The LS7 engine packs a huge amount of torque.

No significant cosmetic mods planned at this time (I'm happy with the stock look). Eventually ill get some clear headlights and MIGHT convert to facelift tails (back and forth on that).

Unfortunately I'm stuck with a 265 rear tire until someone makes a wider rear fenders. Ideally I could step up to at least a 305 but that's a no-go with these little stock fenders.

I have ultra soft Michelin tires on now and I shouldnt NEED anything more as I dont have any plans to race it. Ill just be more conservative with the pedal. The goal with this car has less to do with going 'fast' and more to do with having something unique that I built.

With the dry sump so close what happens if you ever need to remove the sump? can you still get it out without lifting the engine?

With a little more camber you can go wider?
Would it make sense to make it 4-wheel drive, taking into account the higher power?
(sorry if I make stupid remarks, I'm not a technical expert al all!)

As for exterior looks, if you're swapping the lights, I would consider M-bumpers and quad exhausts. Looks ssoooooo much better.

Posting for selfish purposes so I can follow the thread in the "View Your Topics" page

Not significantly. Might get a 275 or 285 tire but that's negligible and hurts handling (too wide of tire for the rim).

Impossible, Impractical, and Unnecessary. 4-wheel drive only really helps from a stop/low speed/poor surfaces/etc. and causes a whole mess of problems elsewhere.

Already done:

I cut the factory bumper over a year ago (when I first purchased the car) and converted to the M exhaust (mid-to-back). I hate the single side exhaust.
