Lowering springs

Do these look too cheap and nasty do you think? Also I am running 18" wheels so not sure if the 40mm lowering will be too much?

Also my car is the 2.5i. Will the springs be different?
 
They look cheap and nasty -the ends haven't been ground flat to sit square, just coil wound and cut. 4cm drop sounds quite a lot, but I'm not expert. Eibachs or simlar quality are a better bet. 18' wheels and it's a matter of clearance on lock to lock and full rebound. Just one more thing your OEM dampers are set to work with you current springs and any lowering (by 4cm) may well impact on their capability by reducing their effective length.
 
FK are ok, well not keen on their coilovers anymore, but they are decent. Springs dont look progressive though, so may need new shocks after a few years.
 
I think its a little too much.
I have the H&R 35mm and Im rubbing in the front on bad roads and track in corners.

The wheels are 9x19 ET44 with 235/35 tires.
 
Yeah too wide fronts. I have the same issue, well i take it yours are rubbing on the front wheel arch bit near the bumper mounts? I am running 225's now which is better and 8j and 18's. All bar bump stop there aint much you can do.
 
Correct. Just behind the side reflectors. Lost one clip and now theres a little hole. Not a big deal.

Whenever I've researched this all the quality brands lower a standard suspension set up by 30mm and ///M sport suspension (standard on UK 3.0) by 15mm
 
There are only the pro springs for the Z4. I wanted the sportlines, but they don't do them.
 
FK is a decent spring manufacturer I thought? Not quite the same reputation as Eibach and H&R but still one of the better ones?

40mm does seem a tad excessive though, especially on standard dampers.

So if I'm reading this right a standard 2.5 Z4 for example, which is fitted with eibachs, is only lowering 15mm lower than a 3.0 Z4

yup, 3.0's as standard on M-Sport suspension is 15mm lower than the lesser models. so with eibachs you only get another 15mm...
 
40mm does seem a bit much, The difference I have had to make when negotiating speed bumbs and the like since fitting eibachs has been substantial. But the difference they make to the drive especially on the curvey bits is worth it :thumbsup:
