Hiya,

Considering lowering my 2006 3.0si.

I read around and can't find a definitive answer on whether I need to swap the shocks if I get a set of Eibachs or if just the springs can be changed? (I'm on a budget)

It has the M Sport suspension, wheels are 18 x 8.5 front, 18 x 9.5 rear.

Cheers for any advice.

Don't see why you would need to change shocks as well unless they've had it... Changed to eibach pro springs on my 6 series and didn't need to change the shocks 👍

You can fit eibach springs to your original shocks

I had eibach springs on my original shocks for about 5 years. Eventually the shocks gave up (at about 120,000 miles), so I fitted new shocks and put the eibach springs on them.

How many miles has it done and/or have the shocks ever been replaced?....

False economy to go to the trouble and expense of changing just the springs if the shocks are shot.

The common theme on here, when people do their own springs, seems to be that the shocks are nearly always shot even at 40 - 50k Miles. An Si is 10yrs+ old now and O.E. Shocks aren’t the best.

As a comparison, my previous Golf GTD (Company car) needed new rear shocks at 75k and that was only 3.5yrs old
