Lowering and spacers

Hi,

Ive searched around and im still confused. Wifes car ( E85, 2004, 3ltr, Msport suspension ) needs some new shocks she does something like 3k a year doesnt drive like loon but does like a "stanced car" ( odd hearing that from a 41yr old womans mouth! )

We just need to get it through the MOT weve settled on stance+ coilovers I know their cheap and there are definatley better out there but from what I can see from trawling the internet the VW crowed seem fine with them. We really do need to keep the cash for house renovations as were adopting.. anyway I digress.

The car is on 108s I have been told the car will need spacers to fit the shocks. Is this true? If so why is this?

From what I have read fitting something like 10mm ( 5mm each side ) spacers all round or 10mm front and 15mm rear is the norm and will keep the car stock looking? Any recommendations on spacers? And I assume longer wheel bolts?

Many thanks guys

Hi,
I’ve recently fitted spacers on mine, although I haven’t lowered the car (Too many Speed bumps near where I live  )I’ve left it on the Msport set up.
I went with 20mm each side on rear and 15mm each side on front. It really suits the car now I think.

Hmm.. looks good Greg, aiming to have the car as close to stock height as I can M-Sport stock anyway I think both front shocks are that knackered It sagging

I agree with spacer size, I have that size + eibachs with zero rubbing. If you can stretch to eibachs do it, m-sport springs are rock hard (the work of the devil) eibachs give a much more compliant ride and are excellent teamed up with bilstein b4's
