Hi

The plastic trim that sits below where the wipers are mounted and along where the windscreen meets the engine bay;

Does this have to come out if you are repairing the wind wiper motor?

And.. Does anyone know the part number or roughly how much it costs (if it is interchangeable) please?

2003 e85 so it's very faded. Thought while it's out I may as well replace it if it's not too pricey

51717043619 - cover, windscreen panel.

Usually called a scuttle in England.

Realoem doesn't give a price but a price request on bmminiparts will, or phone a dealer :thumbsup:

And if you could reply with a price, that'd be great! Mines faded also, and the passenger side doesn't clip in so is loose.

You could try a little ground nut oil on the faded plastic. It's useful for getting rid of polish marks on plastic.
Worth a try before putting your hand in your wallet.
Don't try if you have a nut allergy :-)

Thanks for the heads up. I will make some enquiries and let you no on price

-re the nut oil -I've tried various trim/plastic restoratives and they only stay on for a short while due to all the water run off from the wind shield. Good tip non the less

Don't know how this compares to the cost of the panel, but it's what I would go for.

3 cars = lots of use.

I have read that the careful use if a heat gun can restore faded plastic. Haven't tried it myself though, as my scuttle isn't faded.
