Lower vent LED DRLs

Just spotted these on RealOEM

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=LL32&mospid=53585&btnr=63_1289&hg=63&fg=95

The actual part numbers are not listed for the E89 which normally means they are not compatible - but they are an official BMW accessory - does anyone know how they wire in??

Here is a quick and dirty Photoshop of how they would look on an E89 (LCi). Quite nice I think!

These have been around for ages, you wire them up to the halo feed. They don't look that nice in the flesh, they look after-market. Someone on the e89 US forums had LEDs put into the slivers in the intake vents and they looked very nice.

You have angel eyes for DRL, why the need for these?

There is no need for most mods, you don't need a stubby aerial but still lots of people do it!

I just thought it made the car look a bit more aggressive in low light, but I'd only do it if they integrated visually, if they are obviously aftermarket clip-on like Maniac says, I'd avoid them.

They are official BMW, but they are made by Phillips. The aftermarket Phillips set costs half the price.

Anyway, I would shop around for a better-looking set.

Avoid Chinese knock-offs, as they have weak leds and burn out quickly due to the plastic housing.

The three companies that are worth considering are: Phillips, Hella and Osram.

Here is the example of the newest Osram Light@Day in the fog light blanks of my E86. That's the only set that does use chavvy points of light, but owing to the lightguide technology, one solid stripe.

I have no idea where to fit them on the beautiful E89 in order not to spoil the looks... :idunno:
