Lower control arm nut

Having trouble removing a lower control arm nut. Noticed my driver side (US) wheel had a lot of play and the lower control arm nut is not fully tightened down on the wheel side. There’s about 3mm of threads left to fully seat the nut.

Trying to loosen or tighten the nut just turns the entire stud. I’ve tried penetrating oil, impact gun, heat, etc and can’t move the nut without the stud also turning. Anyone have any tips or tricks to remove?

Just tried the jack and that was still spinning the stud.

Looks like I'll have to investigate the nut splitter.

Thanks for the quick reply and options

Didn’t want to wait and buy a nut splitter so I carefully went at it with my dremel. Got it off - thanks for the quick tip!

I’ll have to grab a nut at the dealer on Monday.

Ermmm it’s a torx head bolt so all you needed was a torx bit in the bolt to hold it while undoing the nut…but a dremel will do it too…. :punish:

Too funny - Should have waited an hour, I suppose.
No worries …

Thanks for the heads up - sure will help reinstalling.

T40 torx Dude, if you need one to help tightening it back up.
