Lower arms replacement

Hi guys.

My front lower arms and bushes will need replacing shortly and I am looking through euro car parts and they sell two brands that are Lemforder and OCAP. The lemforder ones are double the price but is it worth it? I would like to replace the lower arms and and pay under £250 for the parts. Is it possible to buy good quality parts for this budget? Any other brands that are not OEM that make good quality arms?

Many people including myself have replaced them with Meyle HD ones found here

Got a set of these to fit. They look excellent quality and seem to be the forum choice.

Are you sure you need the entire arms?

I got Meyle HD 'lollipop' bushes for about £54 posted, and fitted them myself in an afternoon. If the balljoints don't need replacing there's no point spending the extra on the complete arms!

im looking to stiffen up steering response a tad and was going to try the purple poly bushes which fit in side the lower control arm

has anyone done this and if so does it improve handling

do you normally need the entire arms? there are comments that bushes go, is it just the lollipop that should be? or would people replace the rest without a good reason?

I would definitely recommend to change the entire arms. On mine not only the lollipops' bushings were shot, but one of the ball joint had a LOT of play...
A mechanic friend of mine helped me replacing them. If you plan to do it yourself, good thing is to prepare some penetrating oil and even a heat gun to help unjam the part.

BTW, weird enough I've bought my set of two Meyle HD lower arms on Amazon, sold by B and B components from UK and shipped to France for 237€ only!
Amazon.co.uk also has them at good price: http://www.amazon.co.uk/CONTROL-ARM...8&qid=1402946395&sr=8-1&keywords=316+050+0000

Is that amazon link everything you would need?

I'm looking to change all my bushes as a matter of preventative action.

Ah..

It appears the difference between the amazon/ebay link is that the amazon one does not have the drop links and the ebay one does? Guess that explains the £30-40 price difference.

Neither have ARB bushes but these seem cheapish anyway (about £2 a side from carpartsforless!)

just my 2 pence worth.....

I've bought the whole front Meyle HD setup from B and B components before and they were very helpful and reasonable with price. I phoned them to get a better deal as I was also buying Meyle disks, droplinks etc, etc and they obliged. This was all for my E46 330D but i can vouch for the quality. I was very impressed not only with the build quality but also the difference it made. I bought the whole arms as they already have the bushed pressed in and the price wasn't too bad. They are lighter than OEM but come with a 4 year guarantee unlike OEM (I think its 1 year for OEM).

This is what i bought from B and B;

Product Total
Meyle Wishbones Pair HD - C689 £190.00
Meyle Front Drop Links Pair HD - A153 £34.39
Meyle Front Wheel Bearings £154.00
Meyle Front Disk, Pad & Sensor Set - C971£99.85
Meyle Rear Disk, Pad & Sensor Set £126.50
Handbrake Shoes £28.20
Prop Coupling £79.50
Prop Centre Bearing £55.95

So after hearing your feedback I will be going for the Meyle HD set on ebay. :). In august I will have a completed suspension over hall so will report back then.

Don't think this is supposed to happen. No wonder it was feeling slack!
