Low windscreen water level - indication or not?

Hi

2003 3.0l. Is there a warning light if the windscreen water level is low? Mine was empty today and nothing came on the dashboard. Just wondering if this is normal, or if there is a loose connection somewhere?

From memory only cars from 2007 on (production date) have the warning light.

Mine was empty for 6 months and I had no warning light.
