Low tone horns

Hi Stu.
In the past my horns played up a bit and upon investigation on top of the horn there is a small cross-headed grub screw covered in a sealant goop. If you carefully turn this one way or t'other whilst someone constantly presses the horn push you can find a 'sweet spot' and sometimes get a reasonable sound out of it...for a while. They always seem to die eventually. In the end I replaced them with a new pair :roll:

Mine stopped working on Sunday - (MOT on Monday !) In case it helps someone in a hurry it is possible to use a non BMW one without damaging the existing wiring. I replaced mine with an old LDV one with spade connectors I had in stock until I can source a new one. If you take the BMW adaptor connector off the horn itself, you can fit the small (red 5A?) bullet connectors into the sockets on the adaptor and then spades to the horn. I taped it up to keep the wet out but the bullets seem to be a good fit. It sounds identical to the original and I think the MOT would have been ok with just one horn working in any event but you never know.... For what its worth I tried the adjustment screw as mentioned above but couldn't get it to work consistently.
