Low sun - anyone else find it a pain . . . .

Out on our usual honing routes and the trees were just holding on to enough leaves to be impressive but the low sun can play havoc - especially if you've got a less than spotless screen. Some very dark shadows as well on the edges of the road. . . .

About 12 years ago I stayed 23 miles to the west of Glasgow and traveled to Glasgow every day for work.
Low sun all the way to Glasgow in the morning and low sun all the way home again at night.
Good quality pair of shades or a dark visor was a necessity.

Yep it can be difficult when the sun is low makes driving tough special on tree lined roads because of the shadows etc ! - however better low sun than no sun ☀️

Low sun certainly can cause temporary disorientation cresting a rise on a spirited drive these winter mornings. Just need to be prepared for it slow down and don't panic. In general I just find the Sun low in the sky gorgeous traveling to and from work the past few weeks. 8)

As Nitrix says this is a particular pain if you have the commute in the wrong way. Aberdeen like a lot of east coast cities suffers from this everyone drives east in the morning and west in the evening .

Low sun at dusk and dawn probably the most dangerous times on the road, good sunglasses and extra awareness required, stay safe :driving:

Yep, major pain in the ass. Ex GF from way back, had a head-on collision in her Renault 5 because she was driving into low sun.

My suggestion that, as she could see sod all, might slowing down have been an appropriate action was not well received IIRC. :)

Yeh bit of a pain, we were out sunday having a bit of a spirited drive , seemed the sun was always in our eyes couldnt see the pot holes, and a bit tricky on fast corners were the leaves and usual country droppings are obscured with the sunlight,
But hey ho nice to be out in Nov , top down and not needing a coat,
M

It is a Northern issue, down South we are closer to the equator so the sun is almost on top of us :)

Polarised sunglasses are a help and having clean glass.Still a complete pain though in a low car......nice to see the sun all the same
