Low revs when stopped and occasionally cuts out out

Hi Steve, I didn't but will do it in the next half hour.....do you mean just plug the top lead into the bottom solenoid and the bottom lead into the top?

NO!
You need to physically swap the solenoids over keeping the connector where they were as that relates to the intact and exhaust valves

Right, swapped the solenoids over and reconnected them...car ran ok till it started to warm up, the oil level showed ok smack in the middle and then 2 faults showed up. 2A99 and 3OC1...
Revs started going up and down again and juddering

Sounds like you need to drain oil and make sure correct amount goes in. Not trust the oil level sensor.

I think that and a new filter would be the best next course of action

I'm.starting to lose the will to live with it.
I wish I could just get it up and going, hopefully the oil filter spanner will arrive tomorrow, it was making quite a whining noise earlier so would be good to see what condition it is in. There is also a bit of an oil leak from around there

The black oil filter assembly that the filter slots onto is often damaged by monkey mechanics. The also become brittle due to heat and the cage inside breaks away and can be discarded.

Or a badly clogged oil filter which will cause a high pitch whine.

Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks, it was certainly whining.....you could hear it across the road....my wife even commented on it. Going to keep trying for now but do feel this is going to beat me. The car visually is fantastic, inside and out but having it sat there and not being able to drive it is driving me mad.

I agree 100%....hopefully will be able to check the oil filter later this afternoon. Not sure what else to do with it......my wife keeps saying scrap it as it could be a money pit.....but I'm hooked and want to get it running

Took the oil filter out and it looks a bit grubby to me but I'm no expert. Put it all back together, reset the codes and started it up....sounded beautiful for about 2 minutes then started shuddering. There is an awful wine from where the oil filter is and it changes when you put pressure on the top.
2A99, 3OC1,2F9E popped up on the obd..
Do I scrap it or spend money at BMW? Don't know what else to do.

I was thinking the same.....its horrible having this outside just sat there.....using a mondeo with 185k on the clock at the moment which just doesn't feel the same lol....Will get a filter and see what happens...

You put the old one back in?!

Check you have the correct one, check all seals/washers.

A new filter assembly is around £35 from BMW. That’s what I told you to look for. They come apart due to heat cycles and brittle plastic. Oil then bypasses the filter. Get a new one for the cost and go from there.
