Low oil

Yesterday I was driving my 2003 Z4 which has a 3.0i with a 6-speed manual transmission. The low oil light cam on so I checked it today and it took about 2 quarts to bring it up to full. It has only even 1000 miles since I changed the oil but the car hasn’t been driven a lot since COVID-19 hit in March. I used to put about 1000 miles a month on it commuting to work. Why would it be burning more oil now? FYI, there are no new oil spots on my garage floor.

That makes no sense to me either. But putting on my detective hat I hear you say "no NEW oils spots on the garage floor." So then there are oil spots on the garage floor. Is it a concrete floor? Could it be that the oil is dripping in the spots that are already there and are therefore hard to tell if they are new or not ? I'd check the area around the oil drain plug and feel around the filter housing. See if you come away with any clean fresh looking oil on your hand.

It could only be blowing it out under pressure as you drive and only dripping slightly when you park.

Just my thoughts...
