Low oil warning light

Sorry, sure it's been covered before but...

Set of yesterday from cold (having been parked on a slight incline) - and the oil warning light came on with the "add 1 litre" instruction (with a horrific beep I should add). By the time I got home light was off again.

Pressing the oil level button results in it being 1 "click" away from the lowest it should be. What do you reckon? Leave as is and see if the light comes on again? Or top up now with a litre?

And whilst we're here... Does the 3.0 use quite a bit of oil? Not had to fill a car up with oil between services for a while now but quite happy to do so if needs be.

And is Shell Helix Ultra 5W-30 up to the job? Hope so as I've a bottle knocking around somewhere.

Thanks all.
