Low Mileage Maintenance ???

It seems a lot here do not put excessive amounts of mileage on their Zeds.
I just did an oil change with 20000 kms still left in it's service life, but that oil was 13 months old.
Was it evil of me to consider just ignoring that oil service ?

Just curious about other owner's maintenance for low usage Zeds.

I do understand about sludge etc., but I also think that oil was still good.
 
My car is garaged for 5 months over winter so I do very little mileage (summer weekend toy, garage king whatever you want to call it.)
I like to tinker it's my hobby, so the car is probably over serviced.
Yearly oil and filter bi-annual brake and coolant fluids and anything else I put my mind to.
Didn't need discs and pads but this spring as I was stripping & painting the calipers, I changed all discs pads and handbrake shoes for something to do :)
It gets things done that don't by the book need doing, but that's what I like to spend my time and money on its the enjoyment of ownership for me.

I am the same too. My cars are over serviced as I do them every year and only average a few K miles every year. It is more a hobby though.
 
The Haynes book suggests you ignore the BMW service intervals if you want to keep the car in tip top condition. Instead of the 15000 mile oil change they suggest you stick with the usual 6000 miles or every other year. Oil degrades whether or not car is used so I will go with the Haynes recommendation.

I run a low mileage Z I am lucky my mate is a BMW tech so she gets pampered she is serviced every year on my drive she has only had a few BMW stamped services due to the very low mileage
