Low mileage insurance policies

Hi,

I was thinking about getting a run-about supermini for day to day work and just saving my Zed for the weekends. At the moment I have business class 1 insurance but think that I may be able to save a good chunk of insurance costs to reflect the lighter duties.

Anyone got any experience of low mileage / non-commuting insurance policies ? Are there good savings to be had...?

Thanks

I've heard from a lot of people that business class 1 use doesn't actually put any extra on your premium or if it does it's only a couple of quid. Removing commuting altogether may help but I doubt it'll be much either, lowering the annual mileage will help though, usually 5000 is the lowest you can go to save money.

You're probably right about business class 1 - it just lets you drive to meetings etc away from your normal place of work.

I had a low mileage policy (5000), but because I decided I wanted to use the car a bit more I asked for them to up it another 2500 miles, they wanted another £100, so I renewed this time with no limit and it didn't seem any different.

I did a similar thing, it would probably be best to insure your run around on your existing policy and use somebody like http://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk to insure your Z4, they will do this as a second car and don't require any NCD to give a very competitive price.

Unfortunatley I didn't find out about http://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk until after I bought and insured my run around :headbang:
