Low milage used coupe

Hey guys,

I am off the look at a 56 plate Coupe tomorrow but it has only 1500 miles on the clock. Speaking to the dealer he said he picked it up from a guy who used it as a second car and rarely at that. I havent seen it yet but the dealer kept saying how much like new it was. Dealer has said it not crashed damaged/been off the road for months etc so mileage could be genuine.

Would you have any concerns?
Anything to look out for?

Lets hope I'll be joining the club finally! ;-)

Well I've been to see the car and quite frankly it looks stunning. It is like new. Glad I waited for the Montego Blue! Couldnt go for a test drive today so I will have to wait until next weekend but I have first refusal. Will give me a chance to check its history independently etc.

As things are hotting up any suggestions as to what to look out for on the test drive and/or anything else for that matter? It is going to be some change from a 1998 1.8 Focus I think :wink: May be a week or so before I get it but I will get the camera out (weather permitting!) and get some pictures up.

Also I found a link for the recommended service intervals but I have lost it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What engine size is it ?

I jumped from a 2.0 1993 Calibra into my 2004 3.0 roadster and what a difference the quality of the car especially the lovely interior and the feel of the car plus a big jump in power :thumbsup: :D Superb.

Have you thought about taking the car into a BMW main stealer and getting a check done on its history they can do this with just the key plus pop it on a ramp and have a good look.

They only come in 3.0 or ///M flavour, so it'll be 3.0Si :driving:

Sounds pretty good TBH, the only that would make me think twice is the mileage, it just seem too low :scratchhead:

Yup thats is my only concern! But saying that the original desciption was wrong. Its actually done 3000 but still low. I have got a vehicle check and everything fine. Mileage details came back saying had done 1500 miles at a 6 months services then done a further 1500 over the following year. Cannot see any reference to insurance write off or anything similar. I guess its a question of whether doing such low miles could damage it.

I think I may drop by a main dealer. Maybe I am just being too paranoid!

I am just down the end of the road from you actually (M62 East). Good old Yorkshire. May have to take it up to the moors or dales for a weekend :wink:
 
It just seems strange, how many owners has it had? It wouldn't have needed a service so that sounds dodgy to me, it would be on variable serviing which would be either 2 years or around 14-18k depending on how it was driven.

I'd definitely get the reg checked out at a dealer and see if they have any info on it. What's the first 2 reg letters on it?

Registration is FD putting at Nottigham DVLA office I believe (wikipedia if I am honest). I checking with my local dealer tomorrow after advice given on here so heres hoping.

Yep if it had been Y*56 it would have been pretty likely to be a BMW UK car, could still be a 1 or 2 owners car though (dealer demo). Keep us posted tomorrow :thumbsup:
 
Hi guys,

Been a few days and I promised update. I got it. Its fantastic! Absolutely love it. Only done about 75 miles in it driving it home but its brilliant. Unfortunately I have been away all weekend and am now away all week so cant use it until next weekend :-(

I will be back with photos as soon as possible but for now its Montego Blue, Star spoke alloys, zenons and black leather interior with brushed alu trim.

Girlfriend a little apprehensive so far but I am sure she'll warm to it :wink:
