Low level water light

Over the last couple of days, the low level water light has come on for about 30secs to a minute then off again. Checked level and appears to be fine, heaters working ok and temperature gauge showing normal. Had new water pump, thermostat, expansion tank and sensor fitted last year and been fine until Monday. Since having that work done,I’ve often thought the car gets up to temperature quickly, but have had no problems. It’s a 3.0L e85 2003 car. Any advice would be appreciated

Cheers,do you mean the visual one,or the magnetic one obviously both in the expansion tank

The visual one only covers the top 2/3 of the tank and is connected to nothing else.
The magnetic one at the bottom operates the reed switch in the sensor. It slides up and down the sensor housing and can get stuck.
This is most often the problem but it could possibly be the switch itself. This is an easy twist fit so maybe worth swapping that first just to see.

Thinking on a bit more, there is also a small chance it’s air circulating. Maybe jack the front up and try a bleed?
