Hi all

I have tried searching previous Links but cannot find anything. Has anyone else found they have Judder from an SMG gear box when in low gear/revs??

I have a 03 3.0 l Zed and have been told that to get rid of this judder I would need to have an Performance upgrade re programme of the ECU which i find a little strange.

Anyone any idea's why this judder happens please?? is damm annoying

Thanks and regards

I have this too. Have a proper search (google) as there is a few posts knocking around that mention transmission fluid and pumps being replaced. Also, there is a way of resetting the trans on the SMG I believe, although I can't seem to do this properly so far as I have seen several methods and none of them worked for me i.e. turn key in ignition for 1 second, turn off, count to ten and turn engine on. The other method was put car in N and pull both paddles for ten seconds.

Sport mode makes it more bearable, and it only really is a problem in D mode. Would live to find a solution as it is quite annoying isn't it!

Got an 03 reg 3 litre SMG. Same problem exactly- Judders at low revs- especially in 1st and a little in 2nd, although not nearly as bad. Seems worse when car is cold however. Mine doesnt make a difference if its in D1 or just 1. Judder is the same. Doesnt happen in R, funnily enough. The way I get around it is to start to accelerate in 1st, and just as judder starts, pull off the accelerator and re-apply again, slowly. So annoying!

Anyone found out anymore on this?

Local independant topped up the trans.fluid but cant find anything wrong.

:x

When he says "on" position.... does that mean literally just on (as in one click) or does it need to be to the position right before starting the engine?

My SMG does the same thing, and it's occasional and seemingly linked to temperature (both ambient and arising from use). I had heard a suggestion that it's related to the CDV, and suggestions that manual cars can experience similar. Not sure if anyone's done a CDV delete on an SMG box (I'm assuming it's got that same valve as the manual as it's based on the same box), I certainly wouldn't be brave enough to do it given the hydraulic trickery in the system, but the results would certainly be... interesting.

Resetting the 'adaptive throttling' :?

Not sure how to do that - but I need to give something a go cos it does seem to be getting worse. Anyone have instructions on this please?

Thanks :)
