Love to be hated?

Right'o

Had a bit of a disagreement with a tw@ in a Mondeo on way back from work tonight....

Came off Motorway into Town, and he came right up my ass, at this point I'm thinking 'what a pillock', but drove on as normal at the 40mpg speed limit. We then hit traffic, so as it was sunny i popped the roof down, the car in front had rolled on about 10 feet, whilst i was still putting the roof down, not sure if this annoyed him more, but we weren't going anywhere anyway......then we came to section that has two lanes into the centre of town, or left (which is where i was heading). As usual the people in the lane to centre of town were over our left lane, and i refuse to squeeze through at the risk of kerbing my wheels....again this probably annoyed him, but when it was clear i quickly went round the corner before the lights changed.

We came to another set of lights, and i was changing the track on my CD player, the lights went green, the cars in front moved, and I moved off about a second or too later, however this was not quick enought for him, so he pressed his horn, and started waiving his arms at me.

I starred back at him, and gave him the finger, then drove off really slowly (trying to prove a point). Then we drove off heading towards my house, and he pulled up along side me at another roundabout and said "your a little f*cker in that", and drove off lol  :wkr:

He was a middle aged, red faced  , nerd looking nob head, I was so taken a-back, barely had time to say "f*ck you!"

Totally believe it had everything to do with my age and driving a Z4, ok so he was a prick from the start, but when he saw how old I was blatently made him more annoyed!

Anyone else get abuse like this? I take it as a compliment really, just jealous thats all.

Just how old are you? Good for you to challenge the stereotype and drive like a grandad in your Zed. Frustrated old gits are almost as bad at the idiot who tried to kill me in his Type R

Yes. If you pull stuff like that in some US cities, you end up with bullet holes in you. :x
Regardless of age.

I see that all the time, usually in front of me and it's some daft woman fiddling with her kid or a kid fiddling with his/her cellphone.

Face it, everyone else has a different schedule from you and sometimes they get pissed off... :D :D :D
Don't flip them a bird, just ignore them . It's safer in the long run.

Z4alfie - Im 21, only drove like that cos he was so inpatient, it was only a second or two!!

mcbeee - I dont care what his schedule is, i wanted to get home just as much as he did, the wait for all of two seconds, and that wouldnt get you through the door any quicker on the whole. Yes in hindsight maybe I shouldnt have 'flipped the bird' at him, but he shouldnt have beeped his horn, and gave it the hand gestures!

doesn't sound like he did anything wrong?

If the traffic was queuing then there is no issue in dropping his top.

^^ r u talking about me lol, it was me that dropped my top....we'd only moved about a cars length by the time it has put the roof down

Get it all the time mate. Even from bystanders..

This Sunday I was pulling out of a main road. I saw a jogger down the road. He kept looking at me. My wife was in her sunday best (we were off to a do).

So anyway, I pullout look away and the guy is still looking. And i'm thinking do i know him. As i pass him, he stops and starts swearing and gesturing. As i'm looking through my side mirror the stupid twat is trying to run up the street.

WTH is it with some people. If my missus was not in the car with me, i would have gone back and twatted him in his stupid shorts..

Also, on the M6 a passenger in a boyracer car wound his window and and started doing the "coffee shake" a few months back. This was on the day i got the Remus fitted in London. I was literally chasing and gunning for him for a good 20 miles. I basically saw red and told him to pull over. Said driver shat himself and tried to outrun me in his citreon C2..

Not good i know, i should calm down to be honest..

beancounter1980 - yea totally mate, I have no idea what some peoples problems are......must b a rare disease of 'sudden jealousy' when they see someone in a nice car....

Tweed - lol agreed.

Ive had nothing but praise and good comments ....until this afternoon in a supermarket carpark (and funnily enough the tw@t was in a silver Mondeo) He was parked a row behind me and his missus (blonde slappper with roots coming through etc) was sitting in the car, I never even seen him until he walked back to his car just as the roof had went down, before I made off from the shop.
He opened the drivers door and said to aforementioned slapper "what a w***er". And nods and laughs at me.

Did this braindead cretin not realise that I can actually hear as the roof was down :)
I turned round and smiled at him :D
His backside caved in as he then realised I had heard him and he tried to shrink into his velour front seat.
I gave him a wee wave as I left the car park :D :D

He was actually a young-ish guy and obviously just trying to show off to his mate (I mean that in the animal sense as they both resembled the missing link) :poke:

I do one of two things; either give them my well-practiced royal wave or, if they are tailgating I stomp on the brakes hard...don't give a s**t if they shunt me its only a car and I cannot stand arsehole driving.

Mind you, as Mcbee rightly says, be careful when and where you do that and make sure you've got the space to get away if you need to!!

I wasn't giving you the gears mate, just trying to say that you can't tell what kind of idiot you are dealing with so flipping him or her the bird could land you in a heap of trouble, road rage is a big issue nowadays and nasty things can happen. Best to grow a thick skin and ignore them.

As for dropping the top, too bad if he can't wait 15 seconds. I do it all the time but I try to not hold up the flow...

I just chill-ax and go my own merry way. I stick to the speed limit, regardless of how close people are to my tail. I indicate when turning, I am courteous and let people out if it doesn't inconvenience me. I put my foot down when appropriate and I don't try to beat anyone away from the lights. Why? 'Cos I drive an auto, it makes for a much more relaxed experience. I have a forward facing camera that continually overwrites itself every 1/2hr or so. If anything untoward happens, it's on film. Road rage makes you look ugly and it wrinkles your face

Wink and a Grin, rev the engine a little, that normally gets a smile off that cross face :)

Being 6"2 and 15 stone helps too :P

We had another thread on here and it does seem to be the roadster owners who get the abuse;I notice it myself whenever I drive a soft top with the roof down, peoples looks change from 'nice car' to 'look at that flash t**t'. It's just something to do with soft top cars unfortunately, even though you can pick up a MK1 Z4 for as little as £6k these days people just assume it's flash and the driver is showing off or something. Coupe owners seem to consistently get the exact opposite which is odd...

;)

 lol thats proper funny mate, kinda thing I'd have done in my case earlier if I'd had a better reaction time.

lacroupade - lol i dont thave the guts to do that, care to much bout my car, and cant be assed with insurance

mcbeee - its ok, i know your right really, and i dont normally react like that, but with the series of events I knew somethign was gonna happen.

petach - your right, thats what I'm normally like, believe it or not, being young a driving a 2.5, having just come from a diesel i care too much about my MPG, and prefer to keep that high, as opposed to my rev's...

shidevil - lol I'm nowhere near 6'2 or 15 stone for that fact. Haha, would love to see the look on the face of someone who started on you, then when you get out the car

mikedav - yea i guess its that vulnerablility roadster owners have.....or maybe the coupe owners just cant hear the abuse :P

easty027 - haha

i think i agree with mikedav, ever since i have had a convertible i get so much grief from other drivers.

Last Sat i had my first so called "road rage" in my Z4 - i pulled out of a blind corner - which resulted in the car (which was out of sight around the bend when i pulled out) to have to slow down, but not excessivly - he was well over 15-20m away when i pulled out - but he still blew his horn/ left full beam on - i put my hazzrds on to say sorry/ thanks.

Anyway he insists on tailgating me, (in a nissan micra) then the road opens to 2 lanes, and he overtakes, gestures something (all i see is some hand gesture) and the c*nt then serves towards my car - trying to either make me clip the curb or scare me... my GF was in the car and is a nervous passenger as it is - so i let him off - hoping that would be it. But maybe due to the lack of my reaction he pulls infront and then keeps hitting the brakes - after a few minutes i had enough - told my GF to hold on and I overtake him (can hear his little engine screaming as he tried to accelerate away in the middle of two lanes)

We hit a roundabout and i look across and i get my first proper look at the driver - he is like a 65+ year old man! I asked him if he would like to try that outside his car and he sheeply looks down and then drives behind my car while we are on the same path!
