We also notified everyone (neihbours, local police etc.) for my son's 18th birthday when he had his classmates around for a drink/barbecue/bouncy castle party - luckily that was arranged when the neighbour was away on holiday, and he found out when he got back. Otherwise we would have had a visit from the "local 999 mafia"

An ASBO!!? Seriously? The guy left you a note asking you to move your car. He hasn't put a brick through your window, killed your dog and slashed your tyres. Get over yourself and get on with life, it's too short for pettiness such as this!

Look mate, this is a light hearted thread about annoying neighbours. I would not mind a polite note asking me to move my car if somebody was having some form of delivery.Easty-5 said:

If you can't see that his note is rude and intimidatory then perhaps you need to see a psychiatrist about your sociopathic tendencies.

They only complained once more after I left it for 2 weeks parked opposite my neighbours drive while I went on holiday, leaving my drive empty, they wasn't happy... Now they don't complain about it parked on our drive

ah the joys of not living in the city, half an acre of our own space in sunny cornwall, no such things as parking permits needed ,.. saying that, I wish we could get more than half a meg of broadband speed 
saying that, I wish we could get more than half a meg of broadband speed My first house was a terrace with houses either side of the road, no driveways, no garages and a constant battle for a parking space. I sometimes had to park 30 houses away as there were no spaces closer to my house. Frustrating but as I don't own the road, it was something I had to live with and after all I bought a house with no parking. However, I had loads of notes left on the car over the three years I lived there, whilst parked outside other peoples houses. Some of the notes were very abusive but always written anonymously. We even used to move our car closer if a space became available.
If you're parked outside someone's house who has a drive and you're not blocking the drive, then I don't see how there is any justification for a note/exchange of words etc. Some people really don't have enough to worry about in life. You almost have to feel sorry for them, they probably need medication.

About 5 years ago I watched my neighbour leave a note on my car (a 6 month old 350Z), parked neatly in a designated space, about 30 yards from his house causing no obstruction to anyone. But, he could see it as it was across from his kitchen window
The note read " Do you have to leave this pile of junk here".
I figured maybe he had some envy issues (he drove a seat ibiza) in addition to being a total tw@t
Of course he denied doing it even after I told him I'd watched him do it.
Still my other neighbours enjoyed reading the note from mr popular.
I was amused to see a couple of months back that he didn't think anyone would possibly object to him putting barbed wire on his fence to keep his new neighbours cats out of his garden!
He was very, very wrong!

For what it's worth, I rang up Surrey Police 101 to tell them of someone(insert profanity) who threatened me for parking outside his house in Ashbury Crescent. They told me that the majority of their calls are to do with Parking. This person(insert another more horrible profanity) has 2 yes that's right 2 parking bays in a Residents car park slightly away from his house. He sometimes parks his car there straddling the two spaces but mainly likes to keep them free and park outside his house. After threatening me I rang up the old bill. They were very sympathetic to me and 'asked' me to be the bigger person and try to avoid parking outside his house. So this I now do, ever aware of wandering 'keys' in the night. I don't live in Surrey(thankfully) but it's a pain for people like me visiting when you got (insert a profanity of your choice) like that living there threatening people.
What a shame it comes to this.... The couple who live opposite me have a big ish drive parking for 3 cars. But they can only park on most of there drive if they first drive on to mine.

From what you have stated in the thread so far, I would conclude that you are in fact the rude and intimadating party. You openly stated that you knocked on his door and pointed out his errors with regards to the date on the note whilst calling him certain things. Obviously, as you pointed out, I don't know the whole story, but it does not sound like you knocked on his door and offered an apology for causing any inconvenience whilst telling him you only parked infront of his house due to the fact no alternative parking was available at the time.
I don't know you nor your neighbour so I can only go by the facts presented by you on this thread. When opening a thread like this you cannot expect everybody to agree with you. The joys of forums huh?
