Loud Blower Sound From the Back

I have a 2003 Z4 3l and had my fuel pump and fuel filter replaced last week from a very reliable shop near me. Now I have a leaf blower noise coming from the rear of the car. I thought it was the SAI pump in the front of the car, but the sound is coming from the rear. I am reading on the net that it could be a fuel pump or fuel filter failure. Any advice wpuld be appreciated.

The only thing it could really be is the fuel pump. Tell us exactly what happens when you insert the ignition key and turn it before you start the engine? Can you hear the pump running?

Thanks for the reply. When I insert the key and turn it to the start position (before the starter is engaged) the noise comes on, and it continues when the engine fires up. I took it for an hour drive last week and the sound went away after a few miles down the road. In the past, I have never paid attention to the fuel pump making a distinguishable sound. My thinking is that the shop either put in a faulty fuel pump or perhaps the mechanic routed something incorrectly. The shop said they'd fix it when I bring it in, but I'd like to have some idea of what the real issue is. Thanks.

Certainly fuel pump then I'm afraid. You shouldn't be able to hear it at all. Mine gets noisy sometimes but i put some Redex in the tank and that quietens it down for a year or so.
