Loud bang

So I know the title is pretty vague however ...

I was driving the MC today, and was just pulling away and shifted in to 2nd. Not giving it any beans just casually pulling off from a standstill.

Went to put more throttle in in 2nd gear after changing to hear an almighty bang - WAY louder than anything I have heard before like the usual diff clunk etc - from somewhere under the car (it definitely was not from the engine).

There was no let up in power, no warning lights, car felt completely fine and did as I continued my (short 1-2 mile) journey home.

Any thoughts on what this is/was?

Somebody threw a rock at your car.
Darn juvenile vandals !
Check for a new dent.

Maybe you missed an object on the road that got kicked up by a tyre.
Maybe a chunk of ice, if it's cold enough over there. You can even catch that from someone going in the opposite direction, or from a roof / wheelwell of another car

Anything hanging down underneath ?
If one of those plastic underbody shields lost a fastener, they can resonate in the wind at certain speeds.

Good luck with that.

I'll second checking the coil springs. I had one fail while I was in the car and it was like a gunshot! Nothing obvious changed while driving, other than the noise, and seeing the snapped rear spring through the spokes of the wheel when I had stopped.

As above, my coil spring snapping at the rear sounded like something in the boot had exploded.

Had a look today though without a ramp it's hard to see, but it does look like the coil having had a poke about with a torch.

Thanks for the replies all.

So quick update.

It wasn't the springs (yay?)

However, it was the centre pipe where it attaches to the right back box. The pipe had sheered just before the connecting bracket.

So new centre pipe time. Goodo.

If anyone knows if a Supersprint Race pipe is a straight fit to an RPi backbox, holla!

Nice
Depends upon if flanged buddy
My super sprint pipes are , some others are not
