Lotus Evora - thoughts?

Hey Guys,

I recently experienced a 2011 Evora and I must say I was impressed with the cabin interior considering its size. However, typical Lotus (Lots of Trouble Usually Serious) the door wouldn't open and the car wouldn't start haha
I was surprised at material quality, it was all over the place with some nice materials and some low rent plastics...

Here is a link if you want to check it out?

I used to work for Lotus and love the Evora, very reliable in general with decent servicing costs, apart from the cam belts which is engine out!
I will definitely be buying one at some point? Probably when the S version (350bhp) is a bit cheaper.
Drove a 430GT and it was absolutely fantastic.

I checked one out last year and was unimpressed with the interior and build quality. For the type of car it is, it just didn't feel special enough inside and was cramped and difficult to see out of. I didn't drive it and I've heard it's incredible so I'm certainly not knocking it from that perspective. However, inside it felt like a downgrade from my E86 so I dismissed it right away.

I accept i may be in a minority but they create zero desire for me :o ignoring the build issues mentioned above right now the early ones look very dated :( the styling is a real mishmash of random kitcar meets early 80s Nissan supercars  deformed is the one word that springs to mind . its like the front of one car fused with the rear of another , why you would pay Porsche money for any Lotus is beyond me

Or more than Porsche money, depending on your Porsche of choice. When I looked at an Evora there was a Boxster RS60 Spyder (limited edition run of the late 987 S gen 1) for less money and the Boxster was, in my opinion, a standout car in comparison.

I guess the Lotus brand is more about track pedigree & prowess more than cabin comforts & build quality .
If the feel of poise & hitting the racing line every drive out is the objective along with badge kudos & relative rarity then they have their appeal but you could also say they are rare because they are flawed , expensive & for a majority of car buyers don't tick the right boxes .
