Lost e85 key

Main dealer Log book ie V5 £160 dead easy. 
Just the v5c so no need for any booklets or manuals 
The dealer will advise if they need anything else (I’d just take you car file with you, so v5c, Valid insurance and MOT). Obviously take your driving licence photo card as well, for ID and proof of address.
If the V5c is in the glovebox you might need to call someone out to open your car? Alternatively you can get a replacement online or via post office.

Is the v5c some uk thing? I live in New Zealand
Yes - UK thing as is a MOT (MOT is an annual check of vehicle road worthiness)!
The V5c thing is your log book, i.e. proof of vehicle ownership (even though it states in the picture that it "this document is not proof of ownership").
Ours look like this:
Assume you've got something like this in NZ! Also may be worth amending your profile to say location is NZ as generally most of this community is based in the sunny UK just means I (and maybe others) won't throw silly info your way that doesn't apply to you... I'm sure you've been scratching your head wondering what on earth a V5 is and why you don't have one :scratchhead:

Ok cool well I've added model and country to my signature now lol
I see I see so proof of ownership and photo ID and a few hundred nz dollars.
I'll ring bmw tomorrow here in my city and see what they say.

No the original will still start the car if you can find it. BMW will code the new key using the chassis number. You or the dealer should be able to set up the remote unlock/lock etc. once the new key arrives. If you find the old key both can be set up at the same time. There are threads on here on how to do that.
Bmw will use their records to supply and programme a new key to your chassis number they will prgramme it to the next vacant key slot in the cars memory held in the EWS module. The new key will start your car as well as unlock the doors it will need synced to the car using the key remote buttons if you have more than one key they have yo be synced one after the other so they will both work remotely details on how to on this forum. If you had a key an auto locksmith would have the equipment to code you a new key and supply a blank and cut the blade using your old key, cheaper than bmw at least it is here in uk
