Losing "the feeling"...

i'm off for a drive today, this will be first time out in 2 weeks, becauses its a second car it always gives me a buzz - i don't drive it enough for it to become just a cummute in

Mine was my sole car for the first year, and I never tired of it. The 2nd year, I still find it great to hop in and drive just for the heck of it. While I think the Supersprint exhaust sounds fantastic on these, I've noticed that the stock exhaust seems to sound a lot better lately (I've just gotten to 15k miles) and the engine seems to have loosened up nicely now.

I drive the van all week and the touareg for the family car so the zed only comes out for fun allways feels amazing to me , My addvice is park the zed up buy yourself a diesel hack for work and use your zed for fun :driving:

Mine is my daily car, and you tend to forget how good it really is. Went and test drove a few new vehicles yesterday, they where a landrover disco a new Citeron C8 and a Chrysler Grand Vogager (need to replace my mpv), after getting out of those and back into the M realised I am lucky to drive such a quick car. When around a few car supermarkets and was shocked at the prices of fiat 500s, golfs extra, for the same price you can get a Z of some description. Even went to look at an old Aston Martin as the dealer was close to the other dealers, but after discussing running costs etc, and realising i would be looking at a 8 - 10 year old car and still have to stick £20k into the deal, an Aston i the only thing i really fancy swapping it for, but i realised what a bargain the M is. Parked next to a 911 and as much as i love 911s, it just looked a bit naff and too much look at me (perhaps i am getting old, and did have sensible car head on) I was really quite proud to be going in the Z. Went home zapping down the back roads of Derby with a smile on my face.

However, if you have the itch to change do not think you have any option, hope you find something great.

Probably a bad influence, but I reckon an induction kit and exhaust could keep you hanging in there for another 12 months at least. I don't think I could stand my car if it still had standard exhausts and intake... (it was all just a bit too clinical... and german!). These cars need a proper soundtrack! :D

Guess we're talking circa £2k though.
Exhaust is about £800 for cat back
Induction kit (assuming Gruppe) is north of £1k?

Edited to say: Spotted sixspeeds post on another forum saying Gruppe can be had for £400 plus taxes from Japan

There really isn't anything amazingly special about the Gruppe-M kit though. It has a name to trade off, which keeps it's price high. The filter element is a K&N branded cone filter, which is probably about £100 direct from K&N. You then get a new intake pipe which takes the existing MAF sensor, and then a carbon fibre heatshield.

I expect something like the AFE intake would provide you the same soundtrack, and likely similar performance gains for a more modest price...

I can't fault the H&S system I have, and yes that was £700 fitted when I purchased. However that was for two rear cans, and the X-pipe, which for say the Supersprint equivalent was about £1100, so a damn good price, and very well built!

Andy - have you ever had a MAF replaced? Be interesting if not, I've had 2 go and if moving it to a new place within the gruppe M meant it was less likely to go again, this could also tip the balance.

Should compliment my H&S cat-back nicely too, as incredibly it's starting to sound "normal" 8)

They make a lovely noise, a mate used to have an RS4 cab :sweetheart:

Not sure sure that it's a massive step up or anything though.
