Loosing my RAGtop to a cat!

Well my neighbours cat is relentless.... Even on my covered car :headbang:

Neighbour gave me permission to spray it off... I presumed she meant with my jet wash :o prob is i am never home :(

Some options you could try...

1) get a roof cap, and stick through loads of drawing pins face up protroduing out of the cap, then stick duck tape on the other side to prevent them coming back out. This should prevent the pesky animals from sitting on your roof!!

-or-

2) get a huge dog, and take it to the neighbours garden every day and get it to do enourmous poo's every day on their front door step. If they have a car, get the dog to climb onto their bonnet and roof of their car each day

-or -

3) train said dog to eat cats

I wouldn't pick a jet washer as my weapon of choice, their range is too limited. For this job, I'd go with the range and accuracy of a super soaker or the watery powers of a water balloon. :)

I have several cats - one of them took to sleeping on the bonnet of my car, so i fitted one of these on the wall next to it.

They don't go near it now (until the batteries run out every 6 months or so).

Totally harmless to cats

Well i think i have found a humain solution to my problem....

Cats hate oranges apparently...so i got some citronella oil from ebay - cost pennies, mixed it with some vodka ( ) and i had planned to spray it to my car cover... But thought what the heck... So mixed it in with my autoglym roof protector... And sprayed it directly to the roof!!

Well 2 days later no hair on the roof, the car smells nice, and often see this:

Good idea aquazi

Feel a patent coming on!
Why don’t companies manufacturing rag top protector/renovator think of this idea??????

Citronella is acidic, is it not? Probably worried about it eating away at the protective coating on the car.

Just had a good laugh reading the banter/pictures in this thread again, thanx to all who participated, I also have two cats “Itchy & Scratchy” so no harm to any moggy was had in making this thread…

Tiger Pooo in a “Quality Street” tin under the car works just fine..

I'm a cat owner and understand just how annoying they can be around cars. My two love to hang out with me when I'm working outside. One time having spent the afternoon polishing my old 3 series, the three of us sat on the kerb admiring my work. Then one of the cats decided suddenly he wanted a closer look and jumped up on the roof of the car. Or at least he tried, slipped and slithered down the C pillar claws scrabbling for purchase on the polished metal, making a noise not unlike nails down a blackboard. Or maybe that was just my teeth grinding. Never did manage to polish out the claw marks...

I also regularly find paw prints all over my cars in summer and my old Spider was particularly popuar with neighbourhood cats.

However any violence against animals is deplorable and uneccessary. Cats in particular are creatures of habit and once they find a good 'lair' will tend to return frequently. You've just got to break the habit so cutting up some lemons and oranges and leaving them around and keeping a supersoaker armed and ready should soon be enough to put them off messing with your car.

Plus its a valid excuse to play with a big water gun as an adult, which you can also use to ambush friends and relatives when they come round. Endless fun.

And look on the brightside - it could be worse. My cat planted a dead mouse in my laundry basket last week...

Quick update folks, thanks everyone for your input, it has been a laugh reading some of these posts but as James said claw marks are a pain in the proverbial's to remove from bright work along with the scratch-mat rag top, deposits/marks of fur/paw prints and especially after some moggy coughed up it's dinner and a fur ball on top of the roof of my Zed one evening......

I bought this, thanks pilchardthecat.....

It's a Solar Powered Battery Operated Ultrasonic Cat and Pest Repeller plus has a Flash and has the Variable Ultrasonic Alarm...

I hung it on the concrete fence post (rawl plug and exterior screw required) sensor in line 3 inches above and parallel with the height of the roof to the side and a couple of feet away from the side of the Z4M, turned the sensitivity down to the minimum and turned the Ultrasonic level to 5 so it will flash and covers all frequency so it covers the whole parking box perimeter perfectly........

One small thing is when freshly parked up the heat rises from engine/roof so it will continue to emit the flash and ultrasonic alarm for about 20 minutes till the car cools down.....

It works folks, no witness marks from any cats, i have seen cats under the neighbouring cars parked in the car park while the repeller is active......

Pilchardthecat recommended this in July 2012. I am intrigued as to what happened in the intervening 3+ years. Where you that last Brit out of Guantanamo, have you been in the nick, trekking around the world???

Glad that your roof is now a feline-free zone.

One of the cats next door occasionally liked to sit on one of my previous cars - they hate the smell of lemon so I started using lemon smelling car wax - issue resolved! Sure you can get some sort of citrus rag top cleaner?

As a gardener I really dislike cats and have a gravel drive as well. They think it is for pooing on and it stinks. There was a mystery shooting a while ago and lets say a cat died and owners kept theirs indoors for a while but now they are back. Hate to say it but its no fun clearing up someone elses cat poo and they keep the birds from coming into our bird feeder. If they would only stay in there own gardens I wouldnt have an issue. Antifreeze is the radical solution!!!
