I probably could have posted this in a couple of different threads (like dealer feed back) but here goes:-
I bought the Coupe from HJ in Chester on 24 March and it was back in on 25 March getting wind noise sorted under warranty (drivers window). The fix lasted for about two weeks (they changed the door membrane apparently - left me sitting in the waiting room for about 4 hours after telling me it would take 30 minutes) so it went back in last thurs and its a little better, but still noticeable. Passanger side is silent.
When it was in I also asked them to look at an alarm issue as it keeps going off randomly. As it hadn't happened for a while before it went in they said it was probably sorted (a fly in the cabin or something) so didn't look at it and low and behold its back. I just disarm the internal sensor and that seems to do the trick. Not ideal though.
The main problem though is that I noticed the panel gaps around the front bumper aren't right and it seemed a bit loose. I asked them to look at this. When I picked it up they said to me that there were some scuff marks on the far side corner and in the technician's opinion the bumper had been dislodged when that "impact" happened. This wasn't covered under warranty so they didn't bother investigating any further. The scuff marks were a very light contact with the gate post (very narrow gap and turn in) when I was getting used to the length of the bonnet and certianly not hard enough to dislodge the bumper but anyway the bumper was definately like that when I picked up the car. They had to replace a headlight washer jet/head before I bought it - don't know if that has any bearing. Anyway, they were having none of it and want £100 just to take the bumper off and put it back on again, extra cost to sort anything out that they find.
So presumably I take the car elsewhere (does it have to be another stealer?) for the alarm and window under warranty (will the window keep failing?) but likely to get the same response about the bumper no matter where it goes? How easy is it to take it off (not too bothered about trying that - have seen the guide on the forum) but more importantly will any problems be obvious and easyish to put right? I am quite handy with the tools and relatively patient but not a mechanic by any means.
Why oh why don't the dealers twig that looking after customers is the key to repeat business. Especially in these difficult economic times. Not going back there again!
Any thoughts?
