Loose brake ducts

Hi guys,

I changed my wheels the other day and knocked the brake duct loose on one of the front brakes. Basically where the bolts grip the duct has all rusted away so the bolts are not holding it now. I can't get access to the bolts because the disc is in the way and get the disc off without damaging it.

I used a strap to hold it but its come loose. Is there an easy way to fix this or am I going to need to bite the bullet and buy new brakes for the front and possibly a new duct and wheel bearings? Cheers

Hi There, Do you mean the brake shield has corroded and is is loose? If so, you can use a repair washer on each brake shield retaining bolt, either side of the shield so that the small retaining bolts can clamp it in place. This is only a temporary fix, but should get you moving again?

To Change it the hub has to come off, unless you are really lucky the bearing will need replacing also. Just had mine done amongst other things.

Dust Shield. £60.00

Bearing. £70.00

Why don't they just make the shield out of suitable plastic FFS! :headbang:

Cheers, tug.
