As some of you may know I've been on the look out for a very specific coupe for some time.

There are currently 2 for sale both about 75% of exactly what Im looking for.

One has better spec (sat nav, hifi, elec folding mirrors) and one has a nicer interior (Bi-colour interior and dash)..

Which do I go for? There are other factors in play (condition, price, mileage, owners, type of seller) but if it was just between the two which would you choose?

Or do I just wait some more and try and find my perfect spec (which may not exist)?

i would go for bi-colour over sat nav, i would prefer a cheap tomtom

no z4 comes with many toys

I'm with Tazx , I'd sooner have the nicer interior over folding mirrors etc

But remember .... Opinions are like f*rts, everybody likes their own!! :D

+++2/3

I thought I was going to miss my folding mirror when I sold my last car Zed , but to be honest I have not I would opt of the interior, I think you adapt quickly to your surroundings

My comment refers to the hi-fi etc. I would sorely miss the 10 speaker system in the zed. Makes me glad I chose my zed over an S2000.

Xenons are another thing I would find it hard to live without now.

I have black on black interior, and I'm happy enough with it :)

Not keen on two tone leather, too loud for me.

Also wouldn't go without built-in sat nav as the dashboard is way too wide and looks like it's missing something, oh yeh a built-in sat nav

Amp I could live without

I would prefer functionality - the top hifi is nice to have, so is a MFSW and Sat Nav, plus I like most of the interior colors for the Z except beige / grey (no offense to you old beige lovers, I've had it before)

The interior you could probably change to a colour you like for less then the cost of adding xenons, sat nav etc. For me as long as the colour is good enough then I would like the extra's otherwise I would end up spending heaps retro-fitting everything anyways.

Factory Sat Nav with Bluetooth phone prep, Xenons and heated seats...all a must have. Oh, and cup holders which come with the BMW 'Storage Package'. :D

Its this interior

vs this interior

(Both are just examples)

and the functionality on the cars are identical except the bi-colour car is missing Sat Nav, hi-fi loudspeaker system and electric folding mirrors but adds the storage pack.

The two tone is the same interior as mine... Except I have the steering wheel on the right side!

IMO I would wait till one comes with everything you want.

you guys are probably right, but im just worried what Im waiting for doesnt exist as I've been looking for 4 months anything close yet.

My ideal car is:

Ruby Black Sport Coupe (3.0)
Imola Red / Black Bi-Colour Leather Interior
Imola Red / Black Bi-Colour Leather or Piano Black Dash
108 Alloys
Automatic
Bluetooth telephone preparation
Steering Wheel Multi Function
Hi-Fi loudspeaker system
Xenons
Navigation system - Professional
Storage Pack
Folding Mirrors
PDC
Heated Seats
Sun Protection Glass

108s you can fit after as a retro fit. Is ruby black not ///M specific?

No its not - there were 140 Sports in Ruby Black but I've only seen 2 for sale recently.

However at the moment there are Carbon blacks coming out of the woodwork (which is what both these cars are).

Well I've had a call back from BMW and theyve offered me the functionality car at the price I originally wanted and I think im going to go for it.

In the long run, it was much better condition and although the interior isnt as nice, should hold its value better with all the toys..

Carbon black is nicer than ruby back IMO. I find it strange that people would buy looks purely over function, in my opinion both are important. I wanted red leather seats but got black because you have to make sacrifices. Youl probably find there wasn't a 3.0 in ruby black with your exact specifications. Some things you are looking for are hard to find like the folding mirrors I understand why you want it tho, I couldn't find one with it! It would be nice but you can always just push in the side that faces the road. The storage pack can be added later, tbh its pretty useless. Heated seats in a coupe? If it was a roadster I would say fair enough but not a necessity on the coupe (but I would say a lot came with it, so youl most likely find one). But I would say the other spec will be easier to find on more examples, maybe not the two tone leather as much as the red leather.

With mine I was in your situation, I wanted an M coupe in:

carbon black
red leather seats,
Bluetooth + Telematics
10 speaker system with DSP
Xenons (come as standard on the M)
Navigation system - Professional
PDC
Cruise Control
6 CD changer
Carbon Leather interior
Dimming interior and exterior mirrors
Folding mirrors

Managed to get all of it apart from the colour and seat colour, cruise and folding mirrors. My car doesn't have heated seats either and dont regret that decision either.

I got a silver grey car with black leather which also had tinted windows, carbon fibre rear spoiler and the M wheels in gunmetal and the car looks awesome IMO. I didn't look back on the aesthetics although what I wanted would have looked better the Z4C is a car that looks good in most of its colour variants. Cruise can be retrofitted and the folding mirrors... well I live on a tight street so it would have been nice but I don't mind pushing up the mirror when parking on the street, but I have a garage so its not too much of a problem.

Few pics of it here:

I would wait, IMO finding a good car that has been looked after well mechanically and lower milage is more important. You will find people that got the car of their dreams, will have put a lot of milage on it. Thats what I found when looking.

No, but it was an individual colour.

Some useful info on here: http://www.bmwz4roadster.net/bmw_z4_colors.htm
Click the colours for example pics of the Z4 in that colour.

First Zed I looked at was at a dealer - 2.0 auto roadster, ruby black, 108s, champagne extended leather, piano black, delivery milage.
Was gorgeous, but didn't have the budget - bought a 330ci 'vert instead which I had for two years before I finally bought the Zed. :driving:

Ruby black IS gorgeous.
