Looking to get a Z4MC - advice fpr a newbie!

Apologies! Computer went a bit haywire.

As I was saying an update:

1) Phoned the BM AUC dealer re the car with higher miles and you were right, it was due an inspection 2 that they tried to get out of doing. Eventually they agreed that it was due and would do it prior to selling the car. I still think 22k for a car of this age and mileage from AUC is a bit steep? I think nearer 20k is a more sensible price - what do you think?
2) Phoned Park lane BMW and the salesman said he'd speak to his buyer to try and source something.

Will ring Meridien tomorrow and see if there's a deal to be done.

Don't know what you guys think but in my opinion, there seems to be a few more Z4MC's on the market since March, especially good spec 07 plates. Anything to do with the cars going just out of warranty?

I'll be in a position to see some cars next week so will be able to evaluate face to face! Anything special I should look out for when looking/test driving these cars.

I've test driven a couple so far and the ride compared to my mates Z4M roadster seems a bit harder. Is this just me or is it a noticable difference and something I should accept?

Again, thanks so much for your help.

hi guys,

Further update - Meridien have sold that Z4M. The salesman said it went for close to the asking price - I'm not so sure?

Will continue the search.

on another practical note, any owners with light coloured leather (seppang etc), is this easy to keep clean?

Cheers

If work doesn't pick up by the end of the month, I'll be looking to offload mine

I could be persuaded out of mine too. 2007 Carbon black, 36k miles serviced last week, full MOT & TAX, anthracite & stone heated nappa seats, cruise, privacy glass, PDC, SAT NAV, piano black interior. 1 previous owner mine from 2.5k miles, Genuine CSL alloys, just not using it due to work.

Hi Mmm-five,

It does look beautiful especially with the CSL wheels.

i hope you keep it though. Don't want you to have to sell something you don't want to sell :)

Another couple of practical questions,

1) How does the CSL wheels affect things. Is ride/handling noticibly affected?
2) You've got 3 storage nets - where are they?! I'm guessing boot/passenger footwell and maybe behind the seat?

Hi Shunt,

Yours also looks really nice. Has is got Bluetooth and LOGIC7?

I'll actually be up in Manchester this weekend. If you fancy meeting up, send me a message and we can sort something out.

It has bluetooth but no logic 7, however I have a 180gig hard drive system linked through the disk changer so has limitless mp3 playability (http://www.phatnoise.com/downloads/BMW_Quickstart_Guide.pdf). I'll PM you my mobile number.

I don't want to sell, but I've already held back selling it for about 6 months as I've been living off a combination of 'emergency savings' and low paid, part-time temping jobs.
Since February 2009 I've only had 6 months of proper, full-time (i.e. more than 3-days a week) work. If I get some more work in the next week or two then I can keep it for another month, but sometimes these can take a while to sell, so I'd use it until it sold.

I took the 19" CSLs off after about 2 months & 2000 miles and put standard 18" Z4M wheels on because I didn't like the handling characteristics with them on.
However, to avoid another debate on here, I'm not saying the handling was better or worse, just that I prefer the handling on 18's and found the 19's too 'skittish' on uneven surfaces at high speed, which meant I wasn't enjoying the drive as much as I should

The storage nets were fitted to the passenger footwell (as per the 'extended storage' option) as well as driver footwell and one in the boot. But I never actually put anything into the driver's footwell or boot one so removed them (although still have them). There are already two storage nets on the back of the seats anyway - not very easy to get at though.

Dont think thats an unreasonable price for a car with good history from a manin dealer, but agree it shpould have its inspection II. Woods in Salisbury have a black Z4MC on the front. £23k. Can't say what spec, mileage as didn't stop, but it looks good !

Hi there,

Must say. I've been really encouraged by all your words of advice so far. I think I'm going to see the AUC car at Stephen James in Enfield (the car with good spec but 47k miles) next week.

I'll also try and see the Munich Legends Z4 M C (the one with the smoked wheels). This car didn't have a valid warranty but the salesman saif that I should ring BMW and look to extend it myself (not telling BM that I had bought it from them). Is this a common procedure or is he just being cheeky/frudulent??

If you could let me know if there is anything particular to look out for when test driving, please let me know.

Cheers guys.

If you buy it from Munich Legends, I'd be expecting some sort of warranty from them - or some contribution towards a BMW one :?

Hi guys,

Apologies for being off the radar. I did some intensive searching last week and should hopefully be picking up a car today from a BMW dealer :D

Its a 57 plate with all the spec I wanted and the peace of mind that AUC brings.

Once its with me I'll get some pics uploaded.

Can't wait to join the hallowed ranks of the "M people!"

Thanks you all again for your help.

seem to be selling well recently, had mine delivered yesterday :) It now needs a wash after some cracking rain/hail storms today. Will wash it over the weekend and post something better than the phone camera pic of it at the dealers.

Congratulations Malman,

Look forward to seeing pics! Mine is now getting delivered to me next week. At least I don't have to travel up to the West Midlands to get it! Would have been nice to get it for the Bank Holiday.

There seems to be a few Z4MC's that have come up in the last week for sale all with very good specs and conditions.

Beautiful cars. I can't wait! :D

Enjoy the weekend guys!

Well done.

I also picked mine up today from Dick Lovett Swindon.

Very impressed with these guys as a dealership.

Really love the car and is more fun than my previous - sold them my e90 m3!

Hope the weekend weather is good to enjoy the motor!

Glad to see you got sorted out in the end

That's my car on sale or return at Munich Legends you mentioned, I must say, I'm not that impressed with them, the car has a BMW warranty and is transferable. Also he’s missed a few things off the spec list and hasn't changed the photos for months, think I'll get the car back and enjoy it over summer. I've really missed the M over the last few months. :(
